Because they encourage swinging at strikes down the middle? Ok.

They’d rather take a bunch of pitches and strike out all the time like the Mariners.

Or be consistently down in the count 0-2.

The Astros don’t work counts because they swing at strikes. Now on the flip side, the Astros pitchers nibble when ahead of the counts as they’d rather strike guys out vs. pitching to contact.

In the end, yes, there’s usually a disparity to opposing team’s pitch count vs. the Astros pitchers… and the Astros are still winning games with a healthy run differential.

Meh. We’re better than this team and we’ll get the job done this series.

They encourage flailing at the first pitch no matter where it is

This game is going to be in the 75 minute range at this rate.

What would you like them to do?

The most common complaint in here is when they get early outs by “not working the count”. It does go largely ignored whenever they do damage with said early approaches.

My only concern is if they’re swinging at hittable pitches or not. If they’re consistently getting themselves out by swinging at pitchers’ pitches (or pitches outside the zone), then by all means they need to change their approach.

And if they’re not able to square up stuff thats in the zone… well sometimes the pitcher has a say in the outcome as well, no?

This offense can't hit the Mariners pitching staff.
