Fine, but Espada would be the one to tell him, and he is part of that process.

You can't be afraid of hard decisions - if you can't help, you are not included - he can work it out in Sugarland.

Yankees have 4 guys on active roster and starting hitting better than Caratini since the middle of August. Guardians 5. Royals 2. Orioles 5. Twins have been hurt and would love to have a healthy bat as good as Caratini.

    Teams have below average batters.

You'd have him throwing LH about 4 weeks ago. Don't lie.

So he’s going to walk both of those guys and pitch well against the rest of the lineup when he can’t even get the Angels lineup out? Got it.

Also, Jazz with the Yankees has a .834 OPS. Stanton isn’t great but still has immense power.

I'm just pointing out the strategy that most well knowledgable Yankees fans are fearful of... that teams will make the other guys beat them and those other guys won't.

Not applying any of this to who's pitching game 3 or 4 or whatever.... that being said, the Yankees do struggle against LHP. If they happen to face them, hopefully its aligned to where Framber and Kikuchi are starting the majority of the games.

I don’t think you just outright walk them, especially Judge who our pitchers have consistently pitched well against. If you get behind in the count, then I agree with you.

The key is pitching to them with no one on base…the absolute last thing you can do is walk any of the guys ahead of them. I know you just meant in general and not necessarily about JV, but I really don’t trust him to do that.

LOL - nah, he can't hit....

I can be respectful of how good he was, but also recognize when a man is done, he just doesn't have it anymore....now maybe after a month of training he can get it back, but that is too late...this team has too much to lose by running him out there every 5th day, he is 6th in the pecking order and makes our chances worse.

We had to let Hakeem go years ago too.....it just happens.

So we know our lineup for the playoffs pretty much if it's a left handed starter. Insert Singleton at 1B for RH pitchers.

It took us until the middle of September to finally stabilize a lineup (due to injuries and finding a solution at 1B). Dubon setting a majority of the starts is also welcome news.

I do believe this is an ample lineup to take us far in the playoffs.

The starting pitching seems to be in place even with the problems concerning JV. Unless Arrighetti absolutely dominates his next 2 starts, I don't see how Blanco is left out of the starting post season rotation.

The bullpen isn't totally reliable like 2022, but it's solid and healthy. Four vets at the top of that hierarchy bodes well. You hope the question marks after those 4 get answered somehow. Gonna be plenty of 6th and 7th inning jams to get out of.

I think we can agree aside from JV, this is as good as we could have hoped for heading into the playoffs.

Correct, the days of pitching around Soto and Judge are long over, Wells has been solid, and yes Jazz has come alive after being pretty listless in Miami.

They removed dead bats like Grisham and LeMehieu. Volpe is probably their only weak bat.

IF/OF alignment depends on the pitcher, so there's no telling what'll happen

    FUN!!!

Wells had a nice run but he’s been pretty bad recently. Hopefully that continues because they were doing well when he was hot.

    12 pitchers for the ALWC:

    Valdez
    Brown
    Blanco
    Kikuchi

    Hader
    Pressly
    Abreu
    Neris

    Those 8 are locked in.

    Pick 4 from:
    Verlander
    Arrighetti
    Ort
    Scott
    Ferguson

I will reiterate that Dana Brown is hell bent on using Ferguson in these playoffs, no matter how horrible he's looked.

I think it's safe to say that Scott is out and Martinez in in.

Spencer, Ort, Whitley, JV...if 4 is what you want? We'll see.

Ain’t no way Whitley is on the playoff roster. Ain’t no way JV and Arrighetti aren’t in it, unless they get hurt.

Why do you need JV in a 3 game series?

See how the rest of the season plays out and go from there

Don't care about Martinez, but I like having Spencer Ort and King in the pen

I was referring to the poster thar said that the pitchers prefer pitching to Caratini more than Diaz. This isn't a MAldy situation, Caratini isn't terrible behind the plate, probably what I would call avg at catching/throwing, I dont know how he calls a game. Plus he hits .270 not below the Mendoza line.

    Yep,

He's proving that Stats sometimes aren't all they're cracked up to be. Compared to the teams the Stros will be competing with for a championship Caratini is doing quite well and has earned a regular spot in the playoff lineup. My playoff lineup would look like this.

    Altuve 2B
    Bregs 3B
    Alvarez LF
    Diaz C
    Tucker RF
    Caratini DH
    Pena SS
    Singleton 1B
    Dubon CF

I realize that probably Meyers will be playing CF, Dubon LF and Alvarez DH with Caratini on the bench. Inthis case I would put Diaz at 1B and Caratini at C, with Singleton as a very valuable bench bat. They've gotta find away to get Caratini's bat in the lineup.

Ort and King have been decent but I don’t know if they are postseason decent. I doubt it.
