Green defending forwards would be funny.

I don't know how anyone would think that would be a good defensive line up. Besides Jabari none of the team's high end defenders are on this line up... No Amen, Tari, Dillon, Adams etc.

Just another Reed Sheppard s apostle. He obviously knows nothing about the Rockets. Probably a UK alum.

if FVV gets hurt, Sheppard might get a shot, but I doubt it. Amen would get the first shot and if he wasn’t ready then Reed will get a chance. We should all be prepared to hear you rant and rave about Sheppard all year long, but the Rockets are not going to defer to a rookie pg as long as they are in the playoff race. They might even go with Holiday over Amen.

Amen isn't a PG and Holiday is a nobody.

You go with your best players and Sheppard walks in the door as one of the best players on the team.

You simply have to keep at least one quality ball handling guard on the court.... and you only have 2 on the roster.

Ya I'd assume Ike would give Amen more "trial minutes" playing point than Sheppard for next season.

This is where it gets tricky because Sheppard might play more of a off ball role with spot 15 minutes per game for the first half of the season and more if he shows he's worth more minutes. But then there is Cam. So now there is a log jam at 2 with Green, then Cam and then Reed.

It's going to be tricky how Ime will evaluate all the potential possibilities especially given that this season is more about being a playoff team than a developing team. That really hurts Reed's ability to have trial runs playing pg. Ime won't have much patience trying it out.

Agreed it will be interesting. BTG is as delusional about Reed as he is about Jalen. I hope I’m wrong and Reed is a star from the get go. I don’t think he gets significant minutes this year unless their is an injury at guard and/or a trade.

Also Reed doesn't have to be a star to be successful. He can show up as a rookie giving great floor spacing and he'd have a successful rookie campaign in my books just by doing that.

Amen is more of a forward than he is a PG

Amen has Toronto TMac level handles. Not the handles of a true lead guard yet but definitely still can develop it as Mcgrady did through the years. It's not like Amen has Jabari handles or something.

The thing about Amen being a PG is just how intriguing and special it would be to have a 6'8" athletic freak being a PG.

Pg version of Amen is probably the highest ceiling player on the squad if that ever pans out so Ime should at least experiment with him playing pg.

That’s not the plan, but I understand why folks are assuming that based on his play last year. Judging from what the rockets are asking him to work on, handles in particular they want him to eventually play a guard spot on offense.

Lol I look at it as a good thing that Jalen apologists disagree with me when it comes to player evaluation.

That said, I get why you are low on Shepard... he's basically the anti Jalen.... he has a high BBIQ, he's a selfless player that makes those around him better, he's a two way player, he can shoot a basketball..... all things you don't like.

Amen is my second favorite player on the team. I want him to be that unicorn type guard. He has a long way to go to reach lead guard handles and vision. But as a secondary playmaking SF he could also be elite. Which is where I see him

Handles are needed on the wing as well. We don’t know what the plan is, only what has happened so far

Fair enough. I’m hoping he is our starting sf sooner rather than later and they start using him as a facilitator in the half court when FVV and/or Sengun is sitting. I don’t think he is ready for pg this year, but I believe that is the Rockets plan(even though I have no evidence outside a few comments by Ime and Stone.

I think Amen proved himself fairly well on the vision part when he started and played the point while FVV was injured.

IMO, the questions are more about handles and setting up the half-court offense.

Amen/Reed are the future ball handlers on the team. Amen played the dunkers spot out of necessity and he was a rookie. And he did it fantastically well. He's a basketball savant (as is Reed). He'll have no issues handling the ball (would be surprised if he isn't better than Jalen this upcoming year).

Anyone that thinks Amen is going to be some sort of glue 3 and D type is on drugs. Let's take a look at the young players we've drafted that have so far exceeded our expectations: Sengun, Tari, Cam, Amen and Reed (small sample size but one of the best summer league showings of that past 5 drafts). Jabari has been a mild disappointment so far so I could see him sticking around just due to his spacing and defense.

Rockets need to keep giving the ball the players that are outperforming their expectations. Not to the ones underperforming.

I don't think someone who can't distinguish between a iso and pnr possession should determine who will be "the future ball handlers".

That's basic basketball knowledge and you are trying to wax lyrical about who will be the fire "lead ball handlers". Just don't know how someone who can't understand basin basketball play types can determine this?

I don't think that Jalen apologists should attempt to tell others ANYTHING when it comes to player evaluation.

You live in the ultimate glass house, you shouldn't be throwing anything at all.
