The ability to CONSISTENTLY make a shot is the single greatest skill an NBA player can have. While he may never be the SUPERSTAR player, he may be the most important player on the team. DD
I think Edey is very likely to produce much bigger numbers in the first couple of years than Reed. Doesn't mean that Reed will not be the much more valuable player down the road. But if you look at the career trajectories of someone like Steve Nash or Mark Price or even someone like Fred van Vleet, it took them years to get to star status and significant statistical output. I think you will see flashes here and there, but he will have to earn his minutes gradually. My guess is he will start becoming a star in year 3 or later. Not this year. I hope people will have patience.
I think right now everyone is zeroed in on whether or not Jalen Green can shoot a fish in a barrel, Amen can shoot straight, Jabari can dribble, Tari can stay healthy, Sengun can hit a free throw, and if Cam can pass. Reed is probably pretty far down the list of things we're concerned about this year. Also let's see what Edey looks like when he's getting Enes Kanter'ed.
I had the same perspective from last year's draft with Amen. What we drafted him for, he is doing the job. No need for ROY - just a piece of metal. Same with Reed....he was drafted to help us with a major issue on this team - outside shooting. I expect him to do the job, but I don't care if he gets ROY. In the end of this current rebuild, he will be a key piece for the machine we're building towards the future championship.
Rockets Rookie Cited As 'Untouchable' Over Team's Stars Reed Sheppard was suprisingly named Houston's only untouchable player over Alperen Şengün and Jalen Green. https://www.si.com/nba/rockets/news...eppard-untouchable-alperen-sengun-jalen-green
I know that. Most sports articles are just opinions. Same with NFL analysts, it's just their opinion.
this is just a horrible take. His last paragraph said the Rockets starting lineup of FVV, Reed, Green, Jabari, and Sengun would be a great defensive team. LOL. Sheppard will not move Amen to the bench. Sheppard won’t even sniff 20 mins a game for most of the year. HIs whole premise that FVV and Sheppard would be fine on defense is extremely flawed.
