Probably because since the start of camp, Bryce struggled so much they didn't want to destroy his confidence in the preseason and bring a lot of pressure from media and fans before the season even started. I don't believe the decision to bench Bryce this early is solely based on the first two games. There is no doubt in my mind he stunk it up from the beginning of camp. Canales remarks on Bryce remaining "the guy" right after the Chargers game were not sincere. He just decided not to dump on him in postgame interviews. The decision to bench Bryce was already on his mind. One of the ESPN guys was wondering today what changed in Canales mind from post-game to the day after. That's a silly thing to wonder because there was no sudden change of heart. Panthers saw this coming during the preseason and gave Bryce a couple of real games for the light to come on. It did not.
Exactly, and I feel bad for the young man, I am not sure if he is simply a bust or the Panthers have screwed this kid up so bad he needs a change of scenery. You don't do this to your franchise QB unless you're ready to move in a different direction. I just have to wonder how he would have developed under the Texans leadership.................Thank goodness we will never know
Getting overblown. Bryce is no good and the team decided to move forward. Not the first time and definitely not the last. Owner sucks, but there are others like him.
Ya if tepper drafted cj he would look like a genius and if the texans drafted young we would look like clowns
A lot of players that were considered a bust revamped their careers by playing somewhere else... T_Man
Yeah no one believes this. Bryce is more than likely done as a starting qb in the league for the most part. he’ll get a few starts every now and then - but will be mainly a backup in this league.
I have an idea... Just have the Titans and Panthers swap QB's... Problem Solved!!!! Next issue... T_Man
It is not as common or popular as it once was, but I have always been a proponent of letting a rookie QB hold the clipboard for a year behind a veteran QB (e.g. Flutie - Brees, Chandler - McNair, Chandler (again) - Vick, Smith - Mahomes). I think Bryce would've benefited from playing behind Dalton from the jump last year. We are pretty blessed CJ was able to step in and make an impact right away.
