I'm not close to being over it. Fumbling RBs are a huge pet peeve of mine. Around the goal line, RBs must be especially mindful of ball security. I was a huge Akers supporter but now he's got to prove himself trustworthy, starting in Minnesota.
Texans couldn’t run the ball and still kept wasting first down trying to run. Also, where’s the intermediate/short routes to get the ball out faster? O-line obviously couldn’t hold long enough for the deeper routes and the bears defense wasn’t biting on the play-action/roll outs. Hopefully they learn from this (although there were 3 or 4 games just like this last year)
They are there. CJ is not looking for the check down to the RB which has been wide open for 2 weeks now. Quick slants with Nico are money. Short possession targets are going to Stef.
Not snapping at you still just pissed about it. There’s no discretion, if a penalty is committed in that situation and there aren’t any timeouts, it’s supposed to be a runoff
Still catching up on this thread, so Im sorry if its been mentioned, but thoughts during the game last night: The 4th down spots, I know Demeco should have worded it as challenging the spot and not the 1st down, but how do they not give us that while giving the bears that 4th down run on the next drive? especially after initially spotting us so poorly. roughing the passer call on (I think Edwards?) on that long 3rd down late in the game, when they showed the replay, he literally just bulldozed the OLineman back into Caleb and hit with shoulder, MEANWHILE, on the same screen, Will Anderson getting rear-naked choked to the ground... the holding call on Lassiter's first INT... I understand that its hard to catch, and not reviewable... but if you come out saying HIP DROP TACKLES ARE GETTING FLAGGED, and then not only miss a VERY OBVIOUS (all 4 points) call but cant even review it WHEN IT CAUSES AN INJURY?!?!?! wow Late in the game, on back to back plays, Pitre slams a receiver across the middle, flag is thrown, NY calls down and says it was clean.. next play CLEAR intentional grounding, no flag, NY calls down and fixes it... Like even NY could see how obvious the initial instinct was to call or no call against the Texans... Only call that went our way was not seeing the punch by Azeez (makes up for the Nico BS poke in the face) *Bullock plows through receiver for PI* Cris Collinsworth "Only reason that PI happens is because Caleb put it in the perfect place, away from receiver so he has to go through him" *Lassiter and Stingley make leaping grabs for INTS* Cris Collinsworth - "his pocket is collapsing, not much more he could do, thats the style of QB you want tho, one that will push the ball downfield instead of losing it, basically a SHORT PUNT" TLDR: Eff the refs, Cris Collinsworth gargled Caleb balls all night, Nico is a MAN.
One thing I didn’t understand was how was Diggs short of the marker but if that same play was at the goal line it would be considered a td? He was clearly pass the marker. Overall the officiating was pitiful
that was FUN. ugly ass win but man we have the vibe of a SB winner for real. that stadium was rocking. Bears fans were pretty cool too. But the Texans find ways to win and make plays at crucial moments. The CJ Effect.
Remember Bears later had a close 4th down conversion that I really don't think they got but the officials swiftly gave them the 1st and didn't even get the chain gang out to measure it. Vegas never loses.
Hearing Cris Collinsworth say "its not catchable because of the hold" while the ball was not even on the tv screen was just so wild.. Primetime games, and we get Joe Buck 2.0
I have disliked Collinsworth for YEARS. I could do better, guaranteed! Some of these announcers must have blackmail on the producers.
I think everybody but Slowick clearly sees his density when it comes to repeatedly running the ball on 1st down regardless of anything. He reminds me of BOB in that way. The guy needs to get out of Kyle's shadow.
As an old Oiler fan I already loathed Bengal ass Collinsworth…but damn him as a commentator. His voice gets in my ears.
Which is why I don't think it'll be a huge loss once Slowik leaves. Yeah he has good concepts, Shanahan style etc but CJ makes him look a lot better.
I'm totally with you. Just like Belichick, Kyle Shanahan cannot be duplicated by his assistants, especially on offense because he's a control-freak even by NFL head coach standards.
