Man, I am rooting for the kid but DAM, at what point do they say enough is enough? If this is who he is, he will be finished by the end of the year...........maybe a change of scenery? I take back all the bad things I ever said about Lovie, thank you for not tanking the Indy game so we could not draft this kid...................sometimes luck is a good thing
No he was high on the SEC network hype. Can you blame the fella, every publication kept writing how Bryce was as sure a thing as there was. Bryce may just need a change of scenery, because he’s got talent, but he’s shook by sky high expectations. A coach was fired because Bryce isn’t CJ Stroud elite. There is some pressure on the young fellow, no pun intended.
Been a rough start to the season for most young QBs in the NFL. I think the only one that stands out a little bit (Besides CJ of course) is Jayden Daniels in Washington.
CJ really messed up the expectations of rookie QBs from the media. Too many segments in the off-season about Caleb being NFL ready like CJ Stroud and I'm like "they are setting this dude up for failure with those expectations".
Not only does his situation in CAR suck, but he's also extremely physically limited. Dude can't climb the pocket because he can't see over the line. He can't throw effectively to the middle of the field because he can't see over the line. He can't complete simple check down passes at the rate one would hope because he's so short. He will likely struggle with health over the course of a full season because he's so small. The odds are seemingly totally stacked against him, from several different angles.
Bears fan in my office just lamented how they still don't have a QB. I reminded him it's been 2 games ... relax and don't assume everyone will be a stud in year 1. That only happens for a very fortunate few franchises.
If you're a 5'10 NFL QB you better be good at evading and making things happen on the run. A system QB that is this size with no elite level athletic traits is in for a rough time. Here is Kyler as the antithesis of Bryce Young:
That something for Bryce was that he was supposed to be a "super processor" Basically Tom Brady, Peyton Manning's mind, with less height but more elusiveness. That was the sell.
