You can't expect a magical metric to gather all the info about a player into a single number. You know the limitations of the stat you are using and make inferences acknowledging those limitations. TS% is in general a pretty powerful estimation. Yeah it disregards some of the situations you listed, but that's best you can get. That's an estimation for you. It still is useful. Just look at the guys with high volume/high TS. Then look at the guys with high volume/low TS%. I'd say that it gets the job done at explaining how efficient a player is if you use it to compare players playing in the same era. Players utilizing similar strategies and similar type of offenses.
I understand this as I already explained this in my TS post (see few posts above). I understand the problems of incomplete or flawed metrics and purely relying on one metric or purely metrics alone to evaluate players. I was simply speaking about the arbitrary nature of how possessions are calculated. But if you read my post there seems to be a misconception about TS% which is simply a glorified fancy metric that says player A scores more points in less/same possessions as player B converted to a %. Nothing 3PA/3P%, FTS/FT%, 2PA/2P% doesn’t already tell you.
So a 15 game stretch of 28 ppg 61% ts and the team goes 13-2 is not something you'd want from Green extrapolated to 82 games?
sounded very mature on the subject. It appears hes not letting it bother him but instead is just locking in. i like
Ya me too. I don't know why that dude said "8 games". I think he just doesn't like Green possibly. He's weird.
Several people have different interpretations. There were a few games he played well down the stretch after the streak against those tough teams such as against MIN and MIA. He also played well in that last Dallas game. Not in 3 pt shooting but overall great effort in 2s, reb, and 8 assists. It was a different Jalen in those last couple months in terms of an all around effort.
You said it was 8 games? It seemed like a good 15 game stretch. My point is you seem to have a habit of diminishing any thing Green did.
Oh the 8 game one is his monster stretch ya, from the 14th to the 29th, he was terrible the 2 games before it and the game after. He also had an awesome 5 game stretch in late jan. as well, so it wasn't only those 8 games.
Apparently you. Because you just refer to "8 games". How was the Kihns game "terrible? 19 pts on 15 shots isn't terrible. With Green it's about his floor games. In March is bad games were acceptable. Eveey player even superstars over a 15 game stretch will have a "floor game" where they aren't producing at their best self. With Green beans o make a leap he has to raise his floor games. You use "8 games" as a way to dismiss his impressive March and it's obvious with your diction give he context and your prior post history pattern of ******** on Green.
