He truly is mediocre. Put the right pieces around him and maybe he can do something for you, but he sure isn't elevating the guys around him.
David carr was also insanely lazy and just did not care at all about being a good qb. Guys like him NEVER succeed, it's impossible. Carr's best comp is jemarcus russell, another dude who just didn't give a crap. I don't know that Young is lazy and doesn't care, but who knows.
David Carr admitted in a 610AM radio interview a long time ago after retiring that he lacked dedication to football. He didn't describe himself as lazy, but he said it was during his stint with the Giants, watching Eli Manning that taught him what it took to be a successful QB in the NFL. I appreciated his honesty. It was stunning.
Yeah... Poppa McNair wanted his golden haired QB to promote family image and help sell tix. Peppers was a much better prospect and most of us fans wanted to build defense first. But water under the bridge...
If you have listened to interviews with his teammates they always say how he was the last one in, first one to leave, and just didn’t care
I remember the comments. In David Carr's defense, he was determined to put his family first, before his job and he made a point of leaving work every day at quitting time. He had no shame in that and must have been aware of how his teammates felt about him. Thing is, you can't fulfill your duties as an NFL QB living like the rest of us. Watching Eli Manning day-after-day-after-day up close taught him that.
Yup drafting him was a complete failure of evaluating the person. Him and russell are the worst kinda people to draft, the IDGAF about anyone that isn’t me mentality.
Eh, there's no shame in 90% of people saying that and meaning it every day of the year. But when you are literally 1 of 32 human beings being paid to be the starting QB for an NFL franchise, there's a level of dedication, sacrifice, and commitment that is expected of you that far surpasses your internal desires to want to put your family first on a daily basis. Put your family first in the off-season. Put your family first on off days. Hell, put your family first during the bye week. But I think it's very safe to say that you can't put your family first during the regular season, and expect to make it to your second contract. And that isn't me being an edge lord, or one of those "you're a multi-millionaire, **** your feelings" types that dehumanizes the players. It's just the unfortunate reality of the world he chose to live in.
ya we saw how mediocre the team was when Mills played last season, and he's probably better than bryce at this point
There's a very good chance Bryce would not have started the season with two experienced QBs on the roster. So I suspect you would be right only about 4 games started by Bryce. I think we still would have won more from FA, trades and draft wins as a whole with about half coming from other QB starts.
That's pretty creative and funny. Problem when a hedge fund guy thinks he knows better than the professionals. He set his franchise back a generation.
Just to beat the dead horse one more time: Jalen Milroe is exactly what AR fans hope AR can become. IMO, Milroe will be a better NFL QB than AR because he's a more explosive runner who also has serious pop in his should pads. As a passer, it ain't even close.
