Refractive lens exchange - has anyone done it? (Or any ophtalmologists/optometrists here?)

Haha, no, it was something super trivial...happened just now. I am an idiot. Called the doctor and asked ChatGPT and they told me to calm the **** down. And not to do it again.

P.S.: The surgeon filmed the surgery, I left a USB stick, I guess I will get it tomorrow or so. Might be freaky to look at.

    Brave.

It wasn't that bad going through my PRK. You just see flashing lights. Even if you freak out, the automation knows when to stop.

The actual surgery on flim made it look like the cornea was a death star getting shot down by lasers.

I took a peak at this surgery on YT, so yeah...brave.

Glad to hear it went well. Everything you reported back is standard protocol for lens exchange/cataract surgery. It can take a few more weeks for your eye to fully adapt to the lens but sounds like you're on the right track.

It sounds crazy, but you encouraging me to do it, @Duncan McDonuts, did help push me "over the hump" :). I owe you beer and/or a steak or a basketball game ticket. Thank you again!

Oh, one more thing, and I am not sure I am imagining this or what, but when I look at my eyes in the mirror, it looks like I can see a "mirror reflection" from the center of my eyes, like I can see the lens is not real.

Kind of weird/creepy - I guess I am now officially some kind of bionic terminator or something, with some spare parts built in lol.

You're seeing the reflection of the implant. Your eyes are gonna sparkle now so bat those lashes and smile at dudes.

Small update, had my one-week checkup with the optometrist who had recommended that surgeon today. All healing as normal. Vision is 20/20 (bit better actually, she was joking that my vision is better than hers). Still have to take the eyedrops for a few weeks. Cleared to play tennis. She recommended holding off on swimming for another week.

I do have the issues I knew I was going to have - halos around car lights at nighttime (especially round lights, also traffic lights), reduced contrast sensitivity, and I can't see things very sharp when I hold them right in front of my eye - these trifocals are optimized for smartphone, computer monitor and distance - not for 3 inches in front of the eyes. The flickering I had in the first couple of days seems gone. I am hopeful that the halos will disappear within a few months, and that the contrast sensitivity will also improve a bit again.

    So far, so good.

Congrats on a successful outcome! I'm going to stick with glasses until I need cataract surgery. :)

I got lasik done about 7 years ago. Is that something say 10 years from now I can do again if there is degradation?

I don't know how old you are, but my understanding is that when you get to the age you will develop presbyopia, you will need reading glasses (despite having gotten Lasik, presumably for myopia). I guess that you could the same thing I did, but probably less of a benefit, since your myopia was already addressed through the Lasik. Then, if and when you get cataracts, I guess you could basically get the same surgery I had. But hopefully this wouldn't be needed until you are much older.
