That was actually the best answer he gave all night. Ukraine will never get everything it wants, so if that's their definition of winning, it will never win whether one wants it or not. It was a stupid question. The US should do what it can to encourage a negotiated settlement to end that war, and while we're at it, stop giving weapons to Israel which would end that war as well, as there's no chance in hell they'd continue their genocide without US govt support. I been hearing this same **** for years now. Ukraine currently occupies territories in Russia and Russia is absolutely stuck. Spending money they don’t have. The WW2 era tanks didn’t get it. Ukraine wins just by defending itself. And it has. This isn’t a war of conquest for Ukraine. It was for Russia and it very clearly did not work.

I disagree. Maybe it should be framed differently in the context of outcomes/cost for Russia but the fact is the US is relied upon to keep the peace whether we like it or not (and I’m sure you don’t so I don’t need the whole Tulsi Gabbard regime change sermon… I get it.) The reality is we stay out of foreign wars by brutal dictators respecting the sovereignty of other neighboring nations, and not invading. Some Presidents will jump in any and every war if it suits them (see W in Iraq) but almost all of them will be obligated to send our troops if one of our allies is invaded like Poland or South Korea. It’s an easy question to answer that of course it’s insanely beneficial to the US for Russia to get egg on their face for attempting conquest by invading their neighboring country that was becoming a real Democracy and has global impact on the food and energy supply. If it was a simple dispute over tyrants on something stupid then sure you can take a stance like Trump took maybe but the fact is it is in our interest for Russia to have egg on its face in order to disparage other dictators from getting dumb ideas that WILL drag every president regardless of purity of heart into that war. Even president Tulsi Gabbard would have to go to war if a let’s say South Korea was invaded by Kim Jung’s regime. This matters and if you aren’t disturbed by Trumps answer than I don’t know what to tell you.
