Have you noticed that we only disagree when you’re wrong?

Finally Espada called for the "hit with runners in scoring position play" instead of sitting on his ass. - YTG

He called for two many of them though. What an idiot not improving his record in 2 run games.

Two rookie pitchers going for them? Hope our pitching shows up because that typically results in our offense sucking.

Yes our terrible record in close games is definitely because our hitters pee down their legs in clutch situations. People saying it’s Espada’s fault are just Dusty lovers.

When we get just SOME degree of production 5 - 9 it's like they're a totally different team. The feast or famine from the top of the lineup isn't sustainable and leads to these weird losing streaks to crap teams.

2 runs, 3 runs, 4 runs. Easy peasy for the opponent to wipe that out.

But yes, Stros down 2 then it's almost certainly over

And like I said earlier, when someone does actually come through it seems to open the flood gates. It’s all or nothing with this team.

So we finally got Tucker going.

Dubon is definitely all the way back for the past 2-3 weeks.

These are 2 very good developments moving forward.

That leaves us with Caratini at DH (would have to carry a 3rd catcher, however) and Dubon as a bench bat going into the playoffs. That's not bad at all. Or you play Dubon in left, Alvarez at DH and Caratini comes off the bench.

Joe Espada is 55-27 in games decided by more than 2 runs.

The best such record in baseball.

Dubon is an insanely likable human being that’s just so easy to root for

There's been plenty of times they've had multiple runners, but only scored one run (see Tuesday and yesterday).

The reason it seems the flood gates open after one guy, is because the gates actually opened, thus you notice it.

It's similar to the theory "a guy makes a great defensive play for the 3rd out, then he leads off the next inning". It's actually fairly rare. You just notice it when it happens.

The Astros flood gate theory is probably not significantly better or worse than most teams.

That's a whole lot of games considering how much of baseball is on the margins.

I’m mainly talking about in high leverage situations towards the end of games. There have been many of these games where we were tied or up by 1 or 2 runs and then hung a crooked number up resulting in a win by more than 2 runs.

But yes, they are also really good at only scoring 1 run in situations where they should score multiple lol
