"Look around baseball"?? Since when did the Astros do what other teams do?? They're NOT followers but are trend setters. I don't give a d@mn what other teams do. All I know is the Astros won a WS two yrs ago with Yodan hitting 3rd and if not for Dusty's hard headed need to go with Maldy they could've potentially repeated. Now someone just posted that the Stros are 42-24 with Bregman hitting 2nd and 16-27 with Yordan hitting 2nd (but 56-37 with Yordan hitting 3rd). So you can keep on and on about "the best hitters hit 2nd around mlb" but NOT on this team AND the facts speak for themselves (this yr and a World Series title). But if I know you you'll come back with more of your nonsense.
One more thing about Yordan hitting 3rd. They went THREE months without Tucker hitting behind Yordan and they went 56-37 with Yordan hitting 3rd. Imagine how many more wins they would have if they could've had Yordan hitting 3rd and Tucker 4th.
Team record with Tucker: 27-37 Team record without Tucker: 50-31 I guess we should just put him back on the IL then, right?
Yordan batting in the 2-hole makes sense analytics-wise. But for some reason it hasn't translated into wins as we have seen in April, May and the past 10 days or so. I'm not sure why we are so insistent on trying to make this lineup work when we excelled in the dog days of summer with Breggy batting 2nd, Yordan 3rd, Diaz 4th. This was the magic combination that worked, why change it?
The team didn’t go 2-17 with RISP on Tuesday because Yordan was hitting in the 2 hole. Arrighetti didn’t get rocked giving up 9 in the 1st because Yordan was hitting in the 2 hole. Same for Verlander on Sunday. This team was playing poorly in April/May and had nothing to do with where Yordan was batting. The bullpen kept giving up leads, Abreu was hitting and fielding worse than anyone in the league, Chas was bad, and Bregman was terrible as well.
That's definitely one of the major factors. He was also in the lineup for the majority of the games Yordan was batting 2nd early in the season.
