Exactly and that's what I said at the time. Those around him were making him look better than he was. Not sure what you are saying about Jaygup/Jr. Smith. I had mentioned KPj stats being equal, to or KPj will match the, Jordan Poole stats. Poole got $20M or more so KPj should get around $18M (which is what the Rockets gave kPj through incentives). I've always said teammates and/or systems can mean a lot as to player performance outcome. Some players like Jalen Green are more designed for 5-Out than a system accommodating a heavy post up presence. I then mentioned that Harden was better off with Nets (Durant/Irving) than (Embiid). In fact I said the Harden /Embiid/Tobias Harris group would not work and need to be broken up.
Did a MF just post a layup package of Jordan Poole and think it was somehow comparable to a Jalen Green highlight package? LMAOOOOO you stats bros are hilarious! So since Jalen is Jordan Poole we're going to sign that check for 30Ms per season right? -----> Jaters: "Wellllllllll after I opened the books and did a cross analysis between the inverse ratient of the average player and then counterimposed that onto what we hoped Jalen would be commensurate to output the best I can do is tree fiddy"
I think someone will pay Jalen 5yrs/$150 Million. And he might even deserve it. Young scorers with upside seemed to get overpaid. Simons, Hunter, Poole, Barrett, Quickley are just a few examples that I think were overpaid.
New TV deal (76 Billion) changed everything in terms of contract averages. Decent bench players will be taking home 20Ms per year. We all need to readjust our way of thinking. Jalen will have to bank on himself. 5/150 is the baseline as of today sure - but that could explode after this season and that would be a good thing because it means Jalen would have earned that contract and he is the type of player to help lead this team into contention. At least he's not out there giving mopey ass interviews on how he should be getting paid or being a nuisance to the team because of their position with extensions.
I agree with you on his probable market value and how he hasn't been moping. In the old era, pre-second apron, I would take a flyer on Jalen for sure. Now, with the constraints of the second apron, I don't know what I would be willing to pay Jalen if I were Stone/Fertita because the Rockets have other options -either internally with other of the young core, or externally if a good consolidation trade for a star opens up in the next couple of years. Unless he plays at 80% or better of March Jalen in the first half of this season, I expect him to get paid elsewhere.
If you mean Anf Simons, dude is a 22 ppg and 39% 3 point career shooter. 25 million is really not overpaying him but his next contract gonna be huge. That is Villain Brooks territory. You are gauging the market wrong.
Anfernee Simons first three seasons: BPM: -5.3, -4.5, -1.0 VORP: -0.1, -0.9, .3 Jalen Green first three seasons: BPM: -2.9, -2.1, -0.5 VORP: -0.5, 0.0, 1.0
Jalen Green will be paid by someone that much is certain. Whether he fits the vision of the management totem here in terms of what they feel constitutes a championship player remains to be seen. This team has amassed so much young talent it can do a multitude of different things and with them stalling contract talks it sort of makes me think they are big game hunting with the assets.
You forgot to mention he bounced back in his third year with a 43% from 3 in only 17 minutes. He played very little in his first 2 years which was the conventional way to treat rookies and sophomores. Dude was even smaller than Green who I already thought was too small for the SG spot. He worked hard for his 25 million as a undersized guard and draftee lower than Cam Whitmore. Only difference was Green was supposed to dominate or at least win ROTY in his 1st year and 2nd given the minutes and hype and he did not.
All that great three point shooting but still can't beat Jalen Green with advanced analytics. 50% from within the three point line for Green in his third season. Simons? 40%. The dude shot 40% with 2 pt fga in his third season. 40%
Did you understand context? Anfernee was a low 1st, almost second rounder, those guys are usually out of the league after 4-6 years. (average career of a very common and mediocre NBA grunt) He clawed back despite his physical deficiencies and earned his 25 million a year much like FVV was undrafted underdog too because he was a 6 foot midget. You are only contributing to the degradation of Jalen Green, a former Top 2 pick. Simons overperformed while Green underperformed. Nobody knew Anfernee in his first 2 years around the league.
You are now back pedalling and treat Jalen was never the 2nd pick and people never had expectations. It is way too late for that.....his first 2 years will go down as two of the most inefficient years of a player. Trying to find players who never played much throughout the NBA to come up with a silver lining.....lol there was none. Deal with it. Jabari had the worst 1st year too and we at least acknowledged that and his young age.
Step one, compare Jalen Green to a worse player. Step two, someone shows why that's a stupid comparison Step three, lambast the individual showing why it's a stupid comparison that you just compared a second overall pick to a late first rounder. So don't bring up Simons then. You did. Not me.
It would be close, but on this current Rockets roster, Anfernee Simons would probably be the better player for the team given that he can shoot a basketball. The final determination would hinge on if the Rockets could hide him on defense like they managed to do with Jalen last season because Simmons is REALLY bad defensively.... but if they can hide Jalen, they could probably hide Simmons too.
You threw me in a pot with the other guys. I have no other interests than those below: My deepest gripe was not that Green was not talented. I questioned if he could win us a Championship as Number 1 which satirically is also the headline of this very thread. That might be my personal interest or disinterest in all of these Green convos.
What? My point is, you bring up a Anfernee and Green comparison. I tell you why it's stupid and you respond with "lol now you are comparing a 2nd pick overall with a late first round pick". No you are.
To the moon with your what. We are wasting our time with the Anfernee Simons comparisons lol dude is a midget who is fighting for his career but shooting well. Our end game is a championship and Green is only progressing mildly. He should have been Luka all along but he is not. That is the elephant in the room. His shooting all along.
Jalen is better than simons was through 3 years, worse than jordan poole was. I would consider simons a bad contract/negative value and poole pure dead money. Cam thomas is the next one of those in line to get a stupid contract, he will also be somewhere between a negative value and dead money.
