What do you mean when you say "better scorer"? Are you just talking about one on one? or in a team context? Someone with Jalen's efficiency is a HORRIBLE scorer, because every time he shoots it hurts the team.
TS% measures points per possession not shooting efficiency and rewards three point shooting and FT’s hence Curry has such a high TS% whereas guys like Derozan who don’t shoot 3s but good at 2’s have lower TS%. Jalen has been a good scorer in 2 pt%. The reason his TS% is low is 3 pt shooting which comprises a big part of his offense. But It’s a misconception and mischaracterization that he isn’t an efficient scorer since 3pt shots account for 45% of his FGA. Most if not all would agree that he needs to shoot better from 3. But to say he isn’t a good scorer is simply false and doesn’t take 2 pt shooting into account, in which he avg around 49-50% his career. 33% of shots were less than 5ft which he shot 58%. Bottom line he just needs to shoot 3’s better.
Before quipping with an irreverent response please learn what TS% measures first then open your mouth.
Umm TS is literally a measure of a players efficiency at shooting the ball, that’s the definition of it. The reason it’s used over FG% is because it incorporates free throws (best shot outside of a dunk) and 3s (40% from 3 is better than 55% from 2). Saying that jalen was efficient in a season he was 7% below league average is simply false and a lie, nothing else.
I think what he has proven so far is that he is one of the best microwave scorers (among young players) namely scoring in hurry or scoring in an instant.....although not every time when the team needed him to....so you cannot control his outbursts which are inconsistent and most likely distributed to the first 2 or 3 quarters rather than the fourth when opponents found a way to slow him down. Whether that equates to being a "good overall scorer" I will pass on the question.....
