He's an idiot but he understands his male voters, and their need to feel like they are the good guys. They need a NARRATIVE to feel right.

These voters who are on the fence he knows are mostly men who just want to feel like they are right when he knows the position is wrong to them when you look at it objectively. Even though the reality is he's asking these mostly male voters to literally sell off the rights of their daughter and wives.

So he's just providing narrative so these "come home" voters come home in November. It'll probably work with most of them honestly because of the issue we have in America with most men, and some women craving strongman autocratic conservativism as a drug to feel more secure.

Voting for the strongman solution is nothing more than a drug to feel better today about tomorrows problems rather than actually solve them or face reality. Trump knows what he's selling is smoke and mirrors, and we know that Americans can be suckers to smoke and mirrors. Look at how many people STILL buy time shares. You wouldn't be getting 100 solicitations a day from snake oil salespeople if it didn't work with a chunk of the American population.

This really isn't that difficult of an issue to see.... solving the solution of keeping someone like Trump out of power though is the hard part. Selling a fantasy is easy. Selling dealing with reality with hard work.... is freaking hard. Democracy is hard work.

Harris isn't someone like Bernie Sanders or even Barrack Obama - who would go out of their way to ensure what they say is truthful and is hard to be misleading. Harris is a former prosecutor and she is a fighter. She will typically not go on long winded insane diatribes like Trump - but she will be misleading or give half truths at times; usually skillfully enough for her to deny that she lied.

I will admit - it is a little funny to see Trump supporters get upset that she "lied" when no modern politician has ever come close to lying as much as Donald Trump has and does. The closest to the truth is half-truths - that his supporters proudly claim are full truths.

You can start one - but the problem is that it is like a 600 lbs person calling a 300 lbs person fat.

While someone that is 300 lbs is fat, everyone is looking at the 600 lbs person....

Only 50.5% of Americans should have a say in this and none of them have a Y chromosome

Trump had a chance on that one - they asked him flat out if he would veto a National Abortion ban several times and he refused to answer.

Trump had several jumpshots he missed ala Jalen Green. But the ABC mods missed Michael Finley being out of bounds several times too

    I don't know.

I think that he just badly lost the debate - and Harris did really well in the debate.

The debate was more important for Harris, because she needed to come across as competent, strong and capable - and she certainly did that.

This debate may not ultimately matter - Trump can still win (and probably will), but most of the attacks that him and his supporters leveled against her were exposed as not valid after she went out there, out debated him - manipulated him and then pointed out that other leaders manipulate him right after she did it to him.

She is certainly capable of stumbling, she will likely not continue running such an effective campaign - but since she has replaced Biden, she has ran an overall strong campaign and Trump and his surrogates have really struggled knowing how to spar with her.

Straight up, a Republican should beat a Democrat in this election by 5% - but it may not happen with Trump as the nominee for the Republicans and how he has run his campaign post Biden.

Even with all of his ineffectiveness - it is a toss-up...

Well yes - I am not surprised by this. I mean the man told over 11,000 lies or something like that in his 4 years as president.

The only reason this election is close is that we still have a lot of people who have a problem with a woman and one that is a minority to be president. Yes, the MAGA cult is strong, no doubt about it, but just imagine what a white man who is in his early 50s that came across as coherent and sane would be doing to Trump in the polls?

Sadly, though, no one of that ilk wanted to take on the schoolyard bully but I am riding Harris all the way. I think she will end up winning this but it really shouldn't be close.

I mean my God - Trump looked like a raving, drooling, unhinged fool last night. Why would anybody that has a brain want someone that crazy to be in charge of our country? I will be the first to tell you that Harris gave some vague answers and stretched the truth on things but she didn't come up with whoppers like:

Immigrants are eating cats and dogs
I have a "concept" of a nationwide health insurance plan
Nancy Pelosi was responsible for January 6 (really? She sure did do a good job of scaring herself sh!tless)
A baby is born and can still be executed
"I created the greatest economy in the history of the US"
And on and on and on
It was amusing at first, but then became sad because you were watching a trainwreck and then eventually you got a headache from all that crap that was coming out of his mouth.

Oh and I will add the moderators (who the Republicans felt were biased - just parroting what Trump said) gave Trump several opportunities to clarify himself on some things - most notably about the war between Russia and Ukraine and he could not bring himself to say that he wanted Ukraine to win. Just shameful - the moderators came across as biased against Trump but that is because they were trying to reel him in and have him stay on track and you can tell that his outrageous lies were starting to get under their skin, especially David Muir's, lol.

    Agree 100%

As crazy as Trump is, it's just as crazy to want that drooling unhinged nutjob in charge of a damn thing. He is completely untrustworthy. He will lie straight to the faces of Americans without blinking an eye, over and over and over again.

Trump had the chance to show it was a lie by promising to veto any national ban on abortion. He refused to do it.

And therefore, it leaves voters wondering what he's going to do. Given that Project 2025 is pushing for it and he has refused to say he won’t, it’s very reasonable to expect that he will sign one.
