Lol people accused me of being bigoted towards people with English as their second language by saying that this poster sounds like a AI chat bot. But that the poster doesn't sound like someone with English as their second language. It sounds like a AI chat bot.
I really have to see how the NBA tracks the difference between a iso possession and a pnr possession because often those two possessions can merge when a team switches. With Jalen's iso possessions they are low in volume and from watching the games it seems like there never is a full actual iso clear out when Green goes one on one where even if he beats his primary defender, he still has an army offenders packed in the paint already guarding potential driving lanes for Green. It's a different type of iso possession than the iso possessions I saw Cam occasionally get where it was a legitimate clear out where Can had to beat a single defender to score. Also Jalen's frame is more conducive to pnr playmaking than iso possessions. You can say this about players like Ja Mora t or Kacey also. Part of being a great iso player is having above average strength to push defenders out and those type of elite twitchy guards aren't great at that.
Do you mean Transition? Yeah, that’s actually his best, by far. Don’t know why it’s blank. Here’s his transition stats from the data that made the original graphic So, his most common plays when he shoots/gets fouled are—in order: PnR Ball Handler — 656 possessions Transition — 297 possessions Spot-up — 255 possessions ISO — 185 possessions Hand-off — 124 possessions fwiw: One thing to keep in mind regarding PnR Handler, which this thread isn’t addressing, is that’s for only when players shoots (or shooting foul). These NBA stats don’t include assists. His PPP is league-average as the PnR Ball Handler when shooting.
Switches after the pick, or retreating your dribble, whereby the picker vacates the play, resulting in ISO will generally be picked up by the video algorithms as ISO. Which, imo, it should, because often PNRs are designed to force a switch, so that you can ISO a mismatch. Synergy cameras provide these stats, here is the explanation … Pick-and-roll ball-handler These are possessions finished by the ball-handler in the pick-and-roll. This includes pull-ups, floaters, and shots at the rim by that player. It also includes possessions where the bal- handler shoots before even dribbling off of the screen, as well as when he denies the ball screen and dribbles away from the pick. These are surprisingly much lower scoring possessions that you might guess, but the offense generated from the pass outs to cuts, rolls, and spot ups are fairly high scoring. The lower average scoring efficiency of these shots is likely from the number that end up being pull-up mid-range shots. The public data available on NBA.com only looks at scoring, not passing to others from the pick-and-roll. That data is also available on Synergy, but isn’t part of this overall play type number. Isolation I don’t think I need to explain isolation, but I will say one thing: If one of these other actions occurs and is broken, it may end up being logged as an isolation possession. For example, if a pick-and-roll ball handler dribbles off of the screen and needs to retreat dribble twice, then attacks after that substantial delay, it’s an iso possession. A spot up possession where the player catches then does several jabs or tries to size up his defender is now an isolation possession.
That's strange it doesn't track scores off assists from PnR. I wonder where we can get this stat, because a lot of points a generated off passes from PnR
Can one guy be analyzed more than this? Good grief. You guys are relentless in this back and forth. Just see what he does this year. Baby steps, same old sh*t, or significant progress. It's up to him to prove it.
yea i meant transition, thanks for catching that. Awesome and thanks for the data as well regarding it, it also does appear to match the eye test there. It rightfully should be his most efficient play. Something i hope the rockets do much more next year is get out and run with these athletes we have. interesting note on PnR only counts scoring. With assists included i imagine he would drop in percentile to more below average but from a scoring aspect it makes sense hes about league average. What i would like to see his shot diet look more like next year would be: PnR Ball Handler — 500 possessions Transition — 350 possessions DHO — 250 possessions Cutting — 200 possessions Iso — 150 possessions Spot-up — 150 possessions Thats 1600 possessions at roughly 19.5/gm but a much better balance of shot types.
Biggest star potential on the team and it isn't close. Them: "Anybody looks good in highlights" Me: Ok, show me a non-star player who has that many highlights?
Crazy how many of you were telling me two years ago, how Poole was some major talent. I'm laughing at you know nothing hacks.
Look at you thinking you had a point: Jordan Poole career (5 seasons): 30pt+ games - 30 - average of 6 per season he's played 40pt+ games - 2 - average of 0.4 per season he's played Jalen Green career (3 seasons): 30pt+ games - 30 - average of 10 per season he's played 40pt+ games - 7 - average of 2.33 per season he's played. Yeah that's definitely the same level of highlight plays/games for sure... 5 years of Poole is still significantly less of a player than 3 years of Green. And let's be honest, Jalen's got more highlights than the entire rest of our team combined. So your favourite's probably a pretty **** player.
you need talented teammates to help you out. He looked good with GSW but that Jaygup/Jr.smith mentality rubbed them the wrong way.
Let's hope jalen can be as good as 3rd year poole was, cause we haven't seen anything close to that yet.
Cam Thomas last year: 15 30+ Games. 4 40+ Games. Jalen Green last year: 13 30+ Games 2 40+ Games It’s fun to make childish comparisons that mean nothing! Alperen Sengun: More total highlights than Jalen Green. 10x more passing highlights. (Not that it matters at all…)
Just look at the join date - He's been posting here longer than you, me or @BigMaloe. Were chat bots a thing in 2006? .... Dude's first language isn't English.
