The only downside of losing a close game vs a blowout is the bullpen probably gets worked in a close game.

It's always more embarrassing to get blown out. For example, JV's last outing was an embarrassment -- so horrible that people are questioning his future.

I doubt many people would prefer a blowout vs a close game where he pitched well.

I agree he should have probably been on a third but there’s zero chance it’s an inside the park home run.

There’s an even less than zero chance Yordan is bunting. In fact, if Espada asked Yordan to bunt, especially when you need two to win, he should actually be fired on the spot.

Batting in front of Tuve, or Yordan is different than Caratini/Meyer/McCormick/Doobie. Manager Jose is too reactive than a proactive manager. Yordan batted 2nd for almost 2 months which cost him a lot of RBIs.

How does that impact his ability to steal bases?

Mentality, batting 1st and 2nd are usually base stealers.

This loss really bugged me. A's didn't clear the infield and were able to score twice.

Zero chance? You exaggerate. The runner was on 2nd not 1st. So there was no potential tag-up at 1B to prevent Altuve from having free reign to 2B if the ball was caught. The hangtime was enough for Altuve being within a few feet of 2B when the ball hit the wall. It caromed at least 50' off the wall. Altuve could've easily made it to 3rd, and had he been hustling, he could've possibly made it home.

Regarding Yordan bunting... I said that based on the premise Altuve was on 3rd (like he should've been). There's no shame in trying to tie the game regardless of who's batting. No way it's a fireable offense.

In a tie game at home in the 9th inning or later, w/ a runner on 2nd and no outs, the Astros should bunt 75% of the time or better.

The only time they shouldn't is if Yordan, Tucker, or Bregman are up.

Altuve bunts because he does it often enough to be practiced, and the meat of the order is coming up behind him.

Yordan and Tucker don't bunt because they are very likely to do damage and win the game outright.

Bregman doesn't bunt because his baseball IQ, eye at the plate, and likelihood to put the ball in play.

Everyone else bunts to get the winning run to 3rd base w/ 1 out.

Hey, the Astros only allowed 1 run to score at a time on balls that didn't leave the infield...

"too reactive"...I think he was actually too aggressive last night... some of it works, some of it didn't, but you were suddenly in a situation where you had no choice but to let KTuck run the bases as the Manfraud runner.

Lol Altuve was not scoring on that ball.

And you don’t ever take the bat out of Yordan’s hands when you need two to win the game. That’s insane. Not to mention it’s 50/50 at best that he actually gets a bunt down that allows the runner to score. Imagine how ****ing stupid that would be if they gun Altuve down at home on a bad bunt from Yordan. That’s Ron Washington levels of stupid.

Jose Ramirez is one of the smartest baseball players in the world.

He gets almost no attention but he is superstar player.

Wife: last night was just one loss. Don’t let it ruin your day or your life geez.

Me: Life already ruined, babe. It’s not that we lost it’s the WAY we lost. We lost like a loser loses!

    Wife: Are you that stupid?

Me: You just don’t understand the nuances of baseball.

I know you guys got my back on this!
