I didn't say he did either, but people are pretending like kamala have in depth answers which is far from the truth. She just landed an extra zinger or two

ABC did exactly what they said they were going to do when the Kamala campaign was complaining about the mics remaining muted. Big conflict of interest there with the director being BFF with Kamala and the husbands also being great friends

So you thought Trump was acting/gave rehearsed answers in the same way as Kamala? There are levels to it IMO

Trump in his entire 8 years in the political arena has never discussed real policy, he's incapable of doing so in any meaningful capacity.

I agree, she didn't say much of anything...but why is she supposed to if the orange man never does. He wants this childish nonsense and that's what he got, unlike Biden she was prepared to beat him at it.

Maybe I'm cynical, but I kind of think that at this level everyone is putting on a performance. Some are just more polished and natural about it than others. I don't think this is a particularly strong skill for Harris. She comes across sounding very performative to me, especially when you compare her to Obama or Clinton.

People want to claim Harris isn't intelligent. She is smart enough to know how to bait and troll Trump. She's smart enough to put together and lead a team that prepared her for that.

She wasn't perfect, but her game plan was smart and effective.

And before people say anyone can do that because of how Trump is and everyone knows that's how Trump is. Anyone could that. It just isn't true.

Cruz wasn't smart enough to do it. Rubio wasn't smart enough to do it. DeSantis wasn't smart enough to do it. Nikki Haley wasn't smart enough to do it.

They all had longer to prepare than Harris did, but they couldn't do bait him that way. They didn't have the game-plan and manage a staff that could do it. Harris was smart enough.

I said at the beginning of this thread that it wasn’t going to be about policy and substance but about presentation.
You’re criticizing Harris though for not being substantive while even admitting Trump wasn’t. So why is the onus on Harris for no substance instead of on Trump?

"Performative" is putting it nicely. I would say phony and fake. But whatever she did was still better than whatever the heck Trump was trying to do...

She did better than “ok” this debate. She pretty soundly beat him in this debate. He doesn’t know how to handle her. Maybe he figures it out but so far his style and approach don’t work against. She doesn’t act or debate like a man and he isn’t used to that.

A big part of being a leader is performative. Again look at Reagan.

Also going to note the irony of those who keep on supporting Trump because he “sounds strong” criticizing a Harris for lacking substance and sounding fake.

If falseness is an issue for y’all so you’re voting for Trump I’ve got some
Gold sneakers and NFT’s to sell you.

I always liked him. Found him genuine.

There is something profoundly fake about Kamala to me. I don't find her credible or trustworthy.

Nothing to do with politics - Obama probably wasn't that different from her in terms of political leanings (and therefore quite far from where I stand on economic and foreign policy issues), but dude had swagger, was charming, authentic, perfect timing/delivery and is a great speaker.

Clinton, also a Democrat, great speaker.

Even Bernie - probably as far from my economic viewpoints as one can be as a US politician - I still find him authentic.

Can't say the same about Kamala. I find her phony and untrustworthy.

Trump wasn't even capable of giving rehearsed answers. He tried. He succeeded the first 15 minutes and that was his strongest part of the debate. But he was incapable of even sticking to his game plan. Harris manipulated him. She got him to go off. She played him. If she can do it, Putin "would eat Trump for lunch."

It's not like Trump was perfect in debates back in 2016 either. I remember him rambling off or standing behind Hilary Clinton all awkwardly. But he still won. This time around, people have already lived through his presidency so he doesn't need to knock it out of the park. He should make his layups though

Because Harris is currently in office and has policies currently being implemented that live on her website, but debates aren't about substance lol
