The German authorities were trying to mask the real background of the perpetrators of gang rape. They reluctantly released a statistic that included the perpetrators' passport nationality. And it was something like 45 % or so. Then some journalists got their hands on the list of the actual first names of the perpetrators. Mohamed, Mohamad, etc. (with German passport). And the percentage went up to at least 78 % of perpetrators who are either foreigners from Muslim countries or have a Muslim first name (and hence migration background).
