Why is there this assumption amongst some men - especially Republican men - that women that are single don't want to be single.

If a woman wants to get married - she can.

There are a lot of women (and people in general) in 2024 that are not chomping at the bit to get married. This isn't 1950. Women can have careers, own their own cars and property, even have children without the need for a husband. The absolute necessity of a husband or wife is largely gone.

If Trump loses and the Republicans do poorly, it is going to be because of their inability to understand women - and the lack of respect that they have for women at a macro level.

Sure being fake is one thing, and there are levels to that, but I've never seen Trump fake an accent or change the way he speaks based on audience.

I believe we call those type of men "weird".

It's weird to speak for the dreams and aspirations of individual women as if they have no agency. It's just weird.

There's an epidemic of weak men who are falling back on "traditions" and "religion" to prop them up because they simply hack it in the real world.

It is always interesting having white people - usually white men - gate keeping what is or isn't authentic.

Well - at least we know that these people are not biracial, which seems to be something that a certain percentage of white people know nothing about.

It isn't unusual for people that are biracial to adapt to the people they are around. My 11-year-old son speaks Aramaic with a thick accent and uses his hands a lot when he spends any time with his Assyrian relatives. When he is around his friends or his home, he speaks with no real accent. I'll make sure to let him know that he is "fake" because random 50-year-old man decided so.

It's so ironic isn't it? They are weak men because they need the comfort of patriarchal hierarchy dominance that religion and tradition creates so they can make sure they break the will of women to become approned house wives as their life long servant.

They are weak because they can't attract independent women without a very structured hierarchial society that limits what women can do. Without that safety blanket for them, they can't hack it

I suspect you said Biden was perfectly fine before his debate.

    Yes - including conservative women.

There appears to be a certain sub-set of men in the USA that are threatened by the idea of women not wanting to marry or have children.

I personally am married and have a son - but as I have gotten older, and have had more deep and meaningful relationships with women and people in general, it is obvious that there is no single guide to happiness and I can understand why people do not want to marry, can decide that they do not want to have children - and am not threatened by it.

What I do not get is that these men are so concerned about power dynamics but fail to realize that their bigotry and fixation on women not married or with children only make themselves them appear weak,

thanks, appreciate the knowledge. I've been married 35 years, and have a daughter in her early 20s, and I'm still trying to understand women.

Men don't wanna get married anymore because they don't wanna lose half of their sh. it, plus in lotta instances kids are being used against him, if his ex becomes/is bitter. Anyhow thats someone's personal decision, which I don't have nothing against, but pushing an agenda that nuclear family is wrong or not cool anymore is what most people have a problem with. I think thats where you got it misunderstood

So many people I know lately that are reliable Republicans that voted for Trump in the past, and hate Democrats also tell me how they "also don't like Trump... BUT... KAMALA IS SOOOOO BAD.... Socialist, Communist, the Border, anti-Jew, etc. etc. etc."

So I wouldn't get too caught up in favorability ratings. People who love and worship Trump in public often try to admit that they don't like Trump... when we all know that they do.

I still think this election is Trump's to lose, and he's the clear favorite. If he loses it's because he's an idiot and does enough things to sway just enough people to stay home out of this group of voters/non-voters. Most of them though when they get in the voting booth will convince themselves to vote Trump because of right wing media and their social circles/identity politics.

I’m sorry, but what possible evidence is there that he’s the “clear favorite” right now?

independents don’t love and worship Trump

It's very interesting that you keep trying to weed that part out of the whole quote. It's almost as if you are trying to make it appear that Obama was insulting people when the quote was actually one of understanding and emphasizing a need to address the issues important to those voters. It is critical of both Republican and Democratic administrations. What a great and astute observation by Barack Obama.

    Here is the full quote.

You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate, and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, and they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations. - Barack Obama
