Spitballing reasons for Houston’s odd behavior regarding player injuries: -incompetent medical staff -protecting the player’s interests (allowing the player to manage the narrative) -protecting clubhouse culture (maybe they have found that major injury news has negative impact on morale) -strategy (keeping future opponents in the dark about what roster they’ll be facing) -genuine mystery (just coincidence that so many players have worse injuries than originally suspected)
i'm not mad at tucker nor should most fans. i think most are pretty annoyed being led by the team officials saying he'll be back "soon" but in reality the dude has a broken leg. team kept saying "tucker is making amazing progress this amazing progress that" etc etc. why do you keep doing that and give fans false hope? similar to kendall graveman. i believe 1-2 months ago, the team said he's making great progress. look where we at now? no where. i already mentally prepared to be without tucker for the rest of the year so it doesn't really matter to me. if he comes back, he comes back. if he dies, he dies. work with what you have now and move forward.
It’s a shame Houston didn’t get a good platoon partner for Singleton. He’s fine against righties and if they had someone to pair with him who was equally good against lefties, they’d have a deep lineup with the big 4 followed by Diaz and the 1B platoon with Pena-LF-Meyers as the 7-8-9. That’s a deep lineup. They will have to replace Bregman somehow but other than that, a lefty-killer 1B is all they need (maybe Adam Duvall? Mark Canha?).
Nothing about that suggests the team lied. It says they "suspect" which means they don't know themselves.
Oh cmon. We all know it wasn't a ******* bone bruise. Suspect might as well be confirmed to anyone with a brain.
No need to be dense about it…It’s been well documented why a deep bone bruise is just as problematic as a fracture, both in terms of stability and pain, and how a clean break recovery would have actually had a more distinct timetable (but a hairline fracture vs bone bruise… no timetables) There’s still a risk he could fully break it again with another direct blow, sliding wrong, etc. That’s why his running progress is far more important to getting him back vs. any other baseball related activity.
Why we all honestly complaining about Tucker being out? Maybe if the Astros had been terrible without him, I can understand, but we've been the best team for the last almost 3 months. With or without him, we can't ask for more and now he's coming back soon for the home stretch and playoffs. I joke about him missing time, but I'm not really mad about it. Winning helps cope with his time off.
You an orthopedic surgeon? Not even the best X-rays or MRIs can provide something in UHD to catch everything... or the inventor would have a Nobel and cancer would be caught at Stage 1.
I rec’d because I think this is making fun of Dusty from last year, but yeah- the Hippa stuff is odd that people think it’s controlling on the Astros.
Postgame just reported Tucker is about to speak -- to the media, I think -- and say his injury was a fracture. Regardless, he will miss all the games he was gonna miss whether fracture or not.
Yes. If only we had these things called X-rays and MRIs. Cmon bro. Lol. Take ****ing 80 of them until it's gotten right. It's obvious it wasn't a ****ing bone bruise from the start.
Per his interview, lots of inflammation on initial imaging and it was tough to say anything definitively. After a few weeks, repeat imaging showed a tiny hairline fracture. basically see my post above. it’s not like his knee cap was shattered. But if you want the bone to completely break/snap, you rush him back. It’s a tiny ass bone that will snap with another direct blow when weakened. all of this has been checked out with ortho colleagues. Wouldn’t have changed anything about the timetable.
