Speaking of guys who have been great all year but may not be a factor in meaningful games. Scott has been horrendous in August.
Any word if Yuli complained about the batter's eye? SMH Good for him getting the RBI, as long as we keep the lead.
With the slightest cushion, they have a chance to see what some of these guys are made of against a quality lineup… I don’t mind the slightest of experimentation. Need data for the nerd cave/decision science team to make final recs. Nobody expected Stanek to be nearly benched in the 2022 post-season, and he had a much better season than any of these guys… those are the decisions that win WS’s in the crapshoot of a playoffs.
With Arrighetti moving to the pen in the playoffs, I don’t know how much we will see anyone other than him, Abreu, Pressly and Hader. There will probably be some Neris and Ort mixed in. Thinking about it, they definitely should carry Blanco in case one of our SPs are bad early and have to be pulled.
And I'm fine with Jon being at 1B against every RH pitcher as the solution (80% of the starts). I've been on record for several weeks taking that position. But that's not happening is it? So if Dana didn't think it necessary getting a solution at 1B, why is this very avoidable situation of a different first baseman every day happening? Is there a disconnect between Brown and Espada?
Seems Tayler needs to "warm up" with a few batters before he pitches well, lately at least. He def shouldn't enter games with runners on base. ETA- I'll take that bad call !!!! Scott escapes
