I watched it a few minutes ago. I think it was what any not unhinged politician would say. Hard to have a lot of substance in 16 minutes. It was safe, and it gets everyone off of her arse about interviews for at least a day.

The conservative press has already started to ask when Kamala will do an interview without her emotional support VP. The conservative press will continue to ask for more press interviews until they get enough screwups that they can run with. The fact that The Internets has not been swamped with highly edited, out of context clips that show Kamala in a bad light likely means that the Rs don't have much to work with.
And Dems are gonna Dem no matter what. You're not trying to convince MAGA to like Kamala, you're trying to convince the middle 15% that'll decide the election. She didn't do herself any favors with the interview for those voters. LOL Trump has several interviews like this that are 3x as long as Kamala's snipped interview that also included Tim Walz. Trump's Theo Von interview especially was very good.

So from what I'm hearing, watching this interview is kind of a waste of time? Harris is playing it safe, which I understand, but also speaks to her people's lack of confidence in her ability to hold court with the press and be in demand of the issues and how she will preside if elected.
If it makes you feel better, the attacks and misinformation we're seeing these days are likely going to get a whole lot worse in the years to come.
Totally reasonable take. It was fairly bland and, referencing what a few others have posted, it seemed to me very savvy 21st century: don't make too much fodder for little out-of-context video clips for the opposition. This is what politicians used to act like before one party went full WWF (not that there's anything inherently wrong with that. I wish Dems would run The Rock and have said that many times.)
