Abreu has been a great pitcher for us. However, he has a bad habit of getting ahead on the batter, 0-2 for example, and then throwing 2 "non-competitive" pitches that are well out of the strike zone. Misses on the next pitch and goes to full count and maybe walks the batter, or gets the runners moving (like last night) which caused an easy ground ball to third to be a tough play because the runner was in front of the ball by then. He has the stuff to finish guys off without the waste pitches.

I was not a fan of robo umps when they first came out but after this season I am ready for them, I am sure this is part of my homerisim but I am tired of the BS calls, the Bregman strikeout and consequently getting thrown out was BS, it was a good pitch but just a hair outside on consecutive calls and then the MF ump had to be part of the story and toss Breggy...................That ump is soft, give me the dam robo umps who have no feels

    PS, lets roll tonight!!

Big John doesn’t start because he has an OPS of a pitcher hitting against lefties and because if he plays every day his diabetes flares up.

I love the story, and love the ability to work counts but I hope he gets a nice offer from Korea or Japan and takes the money.

If Whitcomb had his glove turned the right way and didn't try to catch the ball with his gut while doing a bunny hop...

    it was a routine play.

His flukey 2B last night was brilliant though.

Really hoping this is not a repeat of Tyler White/AJ Reed/JD Davis but for 3B.

Exactly. And our advantage of pitching depth gets completely nullified. Almost every team has an ace, but we are built for a war of attrition when Kikuchi, Verlander, Arrighetti are your back end starters.

Nope... one game has already been played. Astros getting swept will not happen.

False... the runner made a difference. Doesn't mean the play should've/could've still been made, just means it wasn't routine.

    Stop being an extensive *****

    Problem solved

Has Whitcomb played 1B? I don't remember if they've played him there. Figure he would be at least a little better there than 3B. Dezenzo should play 3B more if he's in the lineup and Bregman is taking day off or DHing.

A play that Bregman makes in his sleep. We are going to miss his defense if we don’t resign him.

Always funny reading back the thread in games like this where things go wrong. I just don't understand how some of you people get through 162 whiplashing yourself over every peak and valley.

lol yeah that blows. Terrifying. At least it’s not the one game **** off like it used to be.

but considering how the season started I’m just glad we are in this position, and I’m just hoping the experience and Michael Myers quality of these Stros will show up in the postseason if it comes to that.
