I like cream in my coffee, and I like to sleep late on Sunday, and nobody knows me like my baby Spoiler
Coffee, milk, and Splenda for me. Don't need a candy bar coffee. And I have no shame - I'll drink it iced or hot.
One hack I like when pressed for time and use instant...Small amount of boiled water, mix in 1 1/2 servings of instant, fill in the rest with milk. Nuke until desired hotness. That plus Irish cream will hide any flaws the instant had.
Irish Cream will ruin my day, I drank so much of that stuff when I was younger that I think I drank the cream of all the Irish in Ireland
Fun fact - irish cream was invented by marketing execs in the 1970s to help dispose of a glut of extra comodities (whiskey and dairy). Its about as traditionally Irish as doner kebab.
Commercially, yes. Historically, no. In approximately 1,000 AD, travelling Irish Monks learned the art of perfume distilling. This technique was brought back to Ireland – and by the 13th century adapted to create a drinkable spirit flavoured with mint, thyme or anise called “uisce beatha” (“water of life’’). The first mention of how monks blended ‘’Irish Whiskey’’ and fresh dairy cream dates back to the 14th century. Believe it or not, its primary use was in the treatment of dementia, memory improvement and to reduce inflammation of the skin. https://cooleswan.com/articles/irish-cream-liqueurs-a-history-of-taste/
I used to be terribly addicted to caffeine from drinking sodas. I worked for a company that had two free soda fountains on each floor. I was drinking Coke all day. I couldn't control my sleep schedule. I couldn't watch a movie without having to pee at least twice. Constantly jittery. When I quit, I had a head-splitting caffeine headache for two weeks straight. Coca-Cola was punishing me for quitting their product. I'll never go back. Many people feel better after their morning coffee because they're going through withdrawal after a night of sleep without caffeine. Now that I'm off it, I can see how much caffeine is being added to consumer products and it's clear that it's an intentional move to create addiction. I think it's terrible.
Caffeine bad on a level. It’s an addictive drug. It’s also a nootropic and the positives far outweigh the negatives. The medium it’s packaged in, on the other hand, can be terrible- like sodas which have so much garbage in them.
Do coffee / caffeinated drinks maybe once or twice a week. Usually on an as-needed basis, if I didn't get the adequate sleep previous night. So can say it's more for function than taste and habit. Default taste choice is black, but as I've gotten older will do milk to reduce the acidity.
Not sure what you consider "cowboy coffee" but I can tell you how the old-timers did it 80+ years ago.
This. I’m definitely addicted to coffee, but coffee without all the garbage additives that most people put (creamer, sugar, diabetes), is quite beneficial if used moderately. It’s an awesome pre-workout drink. I don’t always control my consumption but I do try to limit it. 1-2 cups/day is best but I find myself going upwards of that a few days a week. There are worse habits.
I should point out that soda is exponentially worse than drinking coffee or tea, for instance. All of that sugar is poisoning your body, and the withdrawal you felt wasn’t just from caffeine.
