They do. I said clout AND struggles against lefties. Once you start tinkering, there’s no end in sight. But the initial tinkering was likely due to the one that struggled against those lefties. Yordan and Altuve also tend to be more laid back. Hell, Altuve has been hitting there well before all the changes and well after all the changes. And doesn’t seem to have drastic splits. Yordan can go on a tear or slump at a moments notice. It is curious when his slumps have been more at home… but what was his June numbers at home (when he was scorching hot)?
Verlander being the multi inning arm over Dubin, Seth, or anyone else would be an upgrade even at this stage of his career in the postseason
They could go with Verlander as the opener and give him 1 time through the order and have Kikuchi or Spencer piggyback.
I believe all this batter's eye talk put the gremlin in their heads. Nothing to it otherwise it's just in their heads.
That's just not realistic. Never gonna disrespect JV like that. He's a fighter, he'll get right by the first of October. Blanco with his extensive relief history should end up being the odd man out along with Arrighetti. Kikuchi makes the least sense and should be the 4th starter. Starters Valdez Brown JV Kikuchi I do think JV is pushed down the rotation, unless he's just electric in September (not likely). I could see Arrighetti left off the roster completely, although I think that's a mistake. Guaranteed Hader Pressly Abreu Neris Likely Scott King Ort Long Relief Blanco and/or Arrighetti (it should be both) Out Ferguson I'm really liking our bullpen.
Zero chance (unless he ***** the bed in spectacular fashion) Arrighetti is left off the postseason roster.
According to OptaSTATS, Arrighetti’s 47 strikeouts and 19 hits allowed in August put him alongside Kerry Wood as the only rookies in the Modern Era (since 1900) to record at least 47 strikeouts while allowing no more than 19 hits in a calendar month. Wood had 60 strikeouts and allowed just 19 hits in May 1998.
It was quite amazing to see. Right now Arrighetti expects his pitch to go exactly where it's being called for, confidence is a son of a gun. I also think that whipping delivery of his is throwing the batter's timing off. His body is ahead of the ball being released. It's a fairly unorthodox delivery.
I'm with you that it shouldn't even be a consideration. I don't know how much they are invested in this Ferguson situation (Brown's baby and Espada sure is using him).
If the playoffs started next week Speghetti is my #4 starter. However, there’s a month to go, will he stay consistent enough for the team to trust him? Him and Brown seem to be developing into a nice 1-2 punch for the future though. This year the rotation will probably go.. Framber Brown JV Kutch
Will most likely split vs KC, but will need to go on a run… something like 15-5. Not sure it’s possible but getting that 2 seed and bye would be great for this team
Even Fiers threw a no-hitter before. One month doesn't make him post season worthy just yet. Luckily, we have another month
We all knew fiers was mid. Arghetti has potential to develop into a great #2 starter, and that development is looking great right now. And he just gives me the vibe that he’ll be a bulldog in the postseason, old school type. maybe not this season but in the future.
He was solid at home in June, especially the first couple of games of the month. Maybe it’s completely random as you’ve suggested but I’d like to see him finish strong at home here down the stretch. Otherwise, I’m going to be a bit concerned in the playoffs especially in the wild card series where it’s all home games.
