Stuff like that happens routinely in baseball. Years of Braves dominance in the 90s got them as many rings as the Expos/Nats through 2019. The dodgers have put together some of the best baseball over the last 8 years or so, and they’ve got 1 ring to show for it. Baseball playoff history is chock full of mockery of regular season performance. Just be good enough to get in…and then get hot.
Who the **** cares. If we miss the playoffs but finish above Texas, no one is going to be celebrating.
Spot on Seems like that's what he's saying to me. If that's what he meant then that's pathetic fandom.
It can happen They are 5 games up and finish the last 3 games against each other. If the Astros win 2 they win the tiebreaker. If they win 1 then the tiebreaker is intradivision record. I don't know but would assume Astros should win that tiebreaker just based on the teams involved. So Astros Must win 2 more than Cleveland over the next 29 to have a chance.
In 2006 the Cardinals had an 8.5 game lead on the Astros on 9/19/06. The Cardinals then went on to lose 8 of 9 while the Astros won 9 games in a row and got to within .5 games going into the final weekend of the season. Cardinals held off the Astros to win the division with an 83 - 78 record while playing about as bad as a team can play in the final weeks of a season. The Cardinals went on to win the World Series.
Who cares? It's MLB not college football. Just get in the playoffs. The team that won the WS last year (can't think of their name) didn't even win their division. And Arizona ended the season 20 games behind the braves and ended up winning the NL pennant.
I remember following the streak and watching the lead shrink by a game every day and thinking “we actually have a chance at history”. That last series at St. Louis was for all the marbles and I was beyond nervous. If memory serves, we were up a run in the bottom of the 8th, with a chance to take the lead in the division, and Scott Spezio came up with a man on and hit a triple and that was all she wrote. It hurt bad man.
Lol.... no disrespect. Getting older is a blessing because tomorrow is promised to no one. Everyone, enjoy life's journey. .
Astros maintain 3.5 Rangers are non-existent. Hopefully the Astros can avoid the sweep tomorrow and, at minimum, avoid losing the 4-gamer vs KC. Tucker is making progress, supposedly. Maybe he returns by Sept 9th. Heyward and Gamel aren't great, but they're better than what we currently have. Astros got this. .
