Yes she did. She ran as the running mate of Biden. The people voting in it were voting for her to take over should Biden not continue (that is the job of VP). Also, it isn't a requirement. Each party is free to choose their nominee in whatever way they see fit.
The DNC never expected he would fall in behind the party. Harris made the decision, right or wrong, that she didn’t want to promise him a cabinet position. Where the Democrats are being destroyed is on social media. While Obama was great at it- Trump is the best ever at it and Kennedy is exceptional at it as well and both will utilize it very well… the Democrats are not and that will cost them on Election Day.
Nixon's Republican Party no longer exists, except perhaps in rump form. The Trumpian alliance of blue-collar workers and catholic conservatives is the closest thing to the Democratic Party of JFK. The modern Democratic Party of marxists has no direct analog in previous iterations of the American two-party system. things change, and politicians and parties change with them. adapt or perish.
