He has control issues. Allows too many baserunners per inning. 4.4 walks per 9 innings 7.2 hits per 9 innings WHIP just under 1.3
Astros could definitely use a prime Lance right now -- he can play the OF and 1B. As for Bregman, yesterday's lineup showed major hope before the Yordan scratch -- he was scheduled for 3B again. But yeah, if the Astros continue having major injury after major injury, the season is doomed as far as legit championship aspirations. Day's end, after all the injuries, all Abreu had to do yesterday was take the DP and get one "easy" out, minimum. Santander did some Vlad Guerrero sh** hitting a pitch that was so far outside the strike-zone. Sh**ty day for many reasons, but today brings another opportunity for a positive outcome. Shoutout to Yordan's neck.
Astros were up 5-2 in the 8th Mariners were down 4-1 in the 8th Who would've thought the Astros would lose and Mariners come back to win. Crazy!
the GS is whatever. pitch wasn't even in the zone. however, what leads up to the bases loaded is what people are upset about. the dribbler back to abreu, why is he chasing the man on 3rd? throw it to 2nd. throw it to 1st. why the hell are you choosing to chase the man on 3rd?
Abreu has allowed baserunners all season. It's who he is. He also pitches better under pressure and when he has to. And he threw a good pitch (just like Will Harris) Pitchers are human. Hitters make $$ millions, too. Nobody's perfect. I'll take Abreu with the game on the line any day, and win the vast majority of them.
Do you appreciate the fact that he's been very solid this year. Tell me when is the last time he had a blowup game. April? Has he been as good as he's been the last two years? Nope, but he's still been very solid.
He's still recovering from a broken leg. Don't buy it only being a bruise for a second. Judging his progress (recent light jogging and hopping.. LOL), two more weeks should be enough time to heal, along with a short stint in SL, if necessary. Sept 9th is my semi-educated target for his return.
Like I asked before, when was his last blowup game? I bet you cant name this game off of the top of your head.
If he had gotten the out at 3rd or gone for the doubleplay he would've been fine. He lost his focus a bit but still made a quality pitch.
Santander struggles against the 4 seam fastball, they said it on the broadcast right before hit it that his average against it is ~.200. I saw an interview with him recently on MLB network where he was asked about his uptick in homers and he said he sells out for a certain pitch each AB and just hasn’t been missing when he gets it.
