I'm type 2 and started Mounjaro last year. Started 285 lbs (6'1") and as of this morning, I am 180. Lost 100+. Haven't been this weight in 37 years (8th grade). A few nasty side affects. Mainly bad heartburn and horrible horrible constipation (hot hot hot!!!). But it works. Anyone else with good success?
You know that constipation is going to turn into hemorrhoids and 5 years from now, they're going to find out Mounjaro causes heart attacks, ED, and makes your head fall off. lol. JK. I procrastinated on buying Eli Lily stock and, yeah, missing the GLP-1 bandwagon was a big mistake. I had been hearing about it for a couple of years, and a few of my friends had told me to jump on it, but I decided to ignore it.
Tirzeparide is pretty potent. Semaglutide iffy the one coming out next year is supposed to be even crazier…something like 40-50% body weight on average
No diet change really. A bit less carbs. Mainly just eating smaller portions. If you eat too much it makes you a bit ill. You learn quick.
Have any exercise with it? how much were you taking (are you no longer diabetic? I heard losing the weigh could make the meds unnecessary) Rocket River
also Type 2 and have been on Rybelsus pills since February. Had hit a peak of nearly 250 lbs (6') at one point but mostly averaged 240-ish for a long time. Down to 210 or thereabouts right now. Best thing about it seems to be the appetite suppression. I just don't have the cravings to go out to eat anymore. 180 would be nice, haven't been 180 since high school. No real side effects that I've noticed. The blood sugar is also now in the ~100 range, so that's also a huge improvement
So do you take these pills the rest of your life? My issue with these solutions is that once you stop… what actually has been changed. That’s why a lot of these medications end up creating more issues in the long run. weight loss is a lifestyle.
if this question is aimed at me, the primary reason I was prescribed them was to control blood sugar, weight loss is just a byproduct. My A1C was around 7.7 or so, I suspect it will be closer to 6.0 when I'm tested next month. I get to keep my toes and other extremities with these pills for the rest of my life is how I look at it
still taking 2000mg metformin in addition to the rybelsus. I suspect that's why I'm not getting some of the side effects the OP has (e.g., constipation). But metformin by itself really didn't do the job for controlling blood sugar
Faithful Wegovy patient here. Been on it little over a year, lost 83 lbs. Would like to get to 100 even and then go from there. I don't mind being on it for a few years. I'm among the healthiest I've been in several years. Definitely has made a big difference for me. I was never a diabetic but it has always been a huge pain in the ass to lose weight through sheer willpower alone. Wegovy really reduces my appetite. I've gone from eating 3 large meals a day to maybe 1.5 meals a day.
