They were the Small Faces in the early years when Steve Marriott was the Front Man. With Rod Stewart, they became The Faces because they weren't as short as they used to be. Then eventually Rod Stewart sort of became too much of a Star to be just part of a band, Maybe I can find a video with Steve Marriot that shows that he wasn't very tall.
In this video, the camera is filming him at an angle around 24 seconds and it is easy to tell that he isn't a big guy. It isn't as obvious in this video, but it is still possible to tell that he just isn't very Big.
It's hilarious to me that this song was written by Mike Campbell, one of the "Heartbreakers", and was offered to Tom Petty, and he said "no". So he gave it to Henley who wrote the lyrics... How different would this song have been?
