Because the media in some cases doesn't want to insult the intelligence of the viewers. Everyone knows that in 2020 she was on stage with Bernie Sanders, and had to peal off support from the progressive left if either her or another centrist Dem had any shot vs Bernie's solid coalition, or Biden's traditional Dem coalition.

Her record is pretty clear though that she's a pretty pragmatic down the middle Dem.

Also her proposed plan for healthcare was not Bernie's Medicare for All but instead was a pretty interesting proposal for sort of a hybrid model. It wasn't ideological enough for the Bernie crowd so it wasn't going anywhere though in terms of pealing off Bernie's supporters. So this tweet you are posting isn't accurate.

Everyone knows in 2020 the primary was Bernie vs everyone else. Everyone else other than Biden tried to peal off Bernie supporters, and when that didn't work they all decided to combine forces with Biden to beat Bernie who everyone believed would be the least viable candidate to beat Trump. Maybe that was wrong, but it was what most in the business believed would happen.

    ....

Trump trying to distance himself from Project 2025 is like Bernie trying out of the blue to distance himself from Medicare for All. Project 2025 is a Trump wet dream. It's just a culmination of everything he blabs on about nonstop anyways.

They need to pivot to say Trump supports Agenda 47, which is on his website. It is Project 2025 rebranded.

Because one lies every time he opens his fking mouth.

Republicans are reeping what they sow. You allowed MAGA to hijack your party so now deal with it.

Try again with Trump in 2028 and 2032?

A lot of project 2025 is just expressing a pathway to expand executive power like replacing career technical experts in the federal government with political appointees. There is no reason for Trump to not love this outside of understanding that normal humans think it's fascistic.

They literally had recordings of heritage foundation people recording themselves talking about how not to create paper trails when breaking the law.

Ya agenda 47 is just as bat **** insane. Literally sections about using military might in Mexico to fight drug cartels and labeling low level weed dealers as domestic terrorists because they "support cartels". Unhinged. Very fascistic.

I really don't know why the media and online hacks think it's some sort of scandal when a figure like Obama would be flexible in his policy positions. Especially when the values are consistent.

Not that I want to make Obama/Kamala comparisons but in terms of policy I do find that they are very similar in terms of pragmatism. Both seem to favor the approach of leading with values, and letting the policy positions off the ideological purity test hook.

I know many on the left didn't like that about Obama, and maybe don't trust Kamala because of it, but I actually like leaders who have an overall consistent value set, but are open minded to letting the winds shift a little on policy. I can't stand the purity test and I think it overall made the party a little bit weaker in 2020.

Thankfully after Bernie lost I think he really got the sense that he needed to lead his coalition to be more diplomatic with the larger coalition of Democracy supporting Americans. I really appreciate what he's done since then to work with Biden, and now Kamala, and it's made the party alot stronger.

    ....

MAGA nuts thinking they can score points by reposting tweets about Kamala having a slightly different policy she supported in 2020 vs 2025 is pretty obnoxious, and the goal here is just to try and divide Democrats. I don't think it'll work except with the small small faction of people who will never be pragmatic and things will never be good enough to actually support a Democrat anyways. Like the idiots burning American flags outside the DNC because Kamala Harris supports both countries being at peace instead of one side destroying the other.

A stretched truth about your background in a political speech? Wow, that’s crazy!

Exactly. It's something he openly talks about all the time. That's why the media mostly doesn't let Trump off the hook when he "tries" to distance himself. Even though I'm sure the idiots over at CNN do. I just don't want that network anymore because they are unbearable to watch.

    Just watched Kamala's acceptance speech.

The two strongest parts IMO were her talking about her upbringing and her laying out the case against Trump.

Everything else just felt like normal political tapdancing. I'm gonna make homes and healthcare affordable and bring peace to the middle east, vote 4 meeee!

Kamala being normal and Trump being a dangerous weirdo are the two most effective things to hammer home. I hope they know that.

Trump just advocated for bringing back stop and frisk

MAGAts crying about policy are hilarious

lemme see mentally ill gramps try to get into some back and forth regarding policy in a debate with Kamala…she would absolutely embarrass that low IQ turd

I’m sure stop and frisk and full immunity for the cops are very popular with the American people

Because the media is doing their jobs and have seen Trump's promises about 2025 and all of his connections to it.

Trump on a plane with Project 2025 cretin (Kevin Roberts?) back in 2022, I suppose right after Roberts blew him (or vice versa). "I don't even know the guy........"

So Paul Dans of the Heritage Foundation supposedly falls on his sword and we're supposed to believe the Foundation and Trump are done with each other?

It seems like a silly criticism to me to point that a political speech was selective on the candidate's childhood experiences. Yes, she is trying to sell herself. That's how this works.

It's not like she couldn't have talked about how fortunate her childhood was, being brought up by highly educated and successful parents, and still spun that in her favor. She has an autobiography that gets into such details, if I'm not mistaken.

I think it’s a tight race. 50/50 at this point. Which is a big change from before with Biden, when models had Trump with a 65% chance of winning.
