    Because veteran players benefit from it and prefer it? (especially when they get older or are dealing with chronic issues).

    Only reason we may not have seen as much to this point is that they were at risk of missing the playoffs altogether. Now, not so much...

    I fully expect Seattle to go on a tear with the new manager. We need to keep winning, no matter who we play. Damn that last series really sucked.

    So?

    Pena specifically got roughed up on that head-first slide and is playing through it. His offense comes in spurts. His defense is stellar and they need him to stay upright/healthy for the rest of the year for that purpose solely.

    Both him and Altuve (and Dubon for that matter) would all benefit from more built-in time off.

    Astros may win the division by default. They can barely field a team. Minor leaguers are everywhere. Pitching is our only plus at the moment.

    Plenty of mid teams overachieve after a manager leaves. Mariners have a much easier schedule too.
