Discussion involving diverse viewpoints is great. Having to scroll past spam posts, and the responses to them, where people don't engage with their actual viewpoints sucks.

I’m not going to speak for anyone else about why they block certain users (though there are plenty of valid reasons to do so). I have only one poster blocked, and it’s not because of his viewpoint. I do now block out tweets because a few users spam these threads with a constant stream of them, making it barely readable. My statement about cult leaders needing self-censorship stands. They depend on people closing their eyes and ears to maintain their support. Eg Congressional Republicans do this quite a bit when asked about something crazy said by Trump, often responding with, ‘I didn’t hear it.‘
