Lol GTFOH with the Wilt BS, he put up godly numbers when he was a half foot taller than the rest of the league and the league was devoid of athleticism..... and the second the league started to get taller and more athletic, his numbers fell off a cliff never to recover. Also, he was one of the most selfish players to step on a basketball court, he'd outright goaltend his own team's shots so he could get a rebound and credit for the points AND any time he got 5 fouls he'd stop even pretending to play shema because if he fouled out, he couldn't pad his stats anymore.... that's why despite the league being so talentless and despite his individual numbers, his team wasn't more successful.
Different conversation that belongs in the General NBA forum though I'd be fascinated to talk more about this and what players may have benefited from existing today. Jalen's issues aren't because he doesn't play in the 90s which is ultimately the implication.
Way back when, the GARM had a good Illegal Defense thread, when the league was discussing ending it. It made the GARM, because,,,,well,,,Rudy T was forcing the league’s hands, spamming clear-outs, along with AI and Jerry. What I love is Rudy was also the pioneer of spacing principles by springing Horry as a 3&D PF in the 1995 playoffs, and later Bullard participating in the first high-Pick n Pops with a PF.
Jordan also did like 3 yrs of NCAA ball under arguably GOAT NCAA coach grooming him to be that dude day 1 It's why Jordan did what he did rookie yr coming off NCAA POY and putting NBA players on notice during Olympic run against them So volume shouldn't have affected Jordan, his bread n butter was middy/attack/fast break Had he even take R Miller 3 attempts in that era, he would have struggled shooting 3, but it was diff era and his style was dominant tailor made for it You NBA followers need to compare Green to players who came straight from HS to NBA...... Not comparing him to players who did 2-3 yrs in NCAA under a NBA style program.....you will look foolish every time
Even MJ said it......watching in his own words Do you ever get tired of being wrong? Quote from MJ at the 2:58 mark
Guys I love Jalen and these type of references to Jordan just make the terminally online haters come out and spam the thread with negativity. This is their shinning moment as fans when they see this stuff. Don't let them have their fun. Just don't bring up MJ. Obviously Green will not sniff anywhere close to the career of the literal GOAT. No ****.
Sure does support what I've been saying all along - Jalen's shooting is critical to his and the teams success rate.
Overreact much? He's not blowing anything but a max contract - he'll still be in the league making $20m per for someone even if his shooting never comes around. On defense - he was more than passable last year, an actual positive on that end. His one and only problem is the inconsistent shooting - which Jalen shows up - the guy who shoots .175 or the guy who shoots .508. FFS making me defend Jalen ....
Has there been a worse judge of talent than Jordan? Maybe Magic? But mike is as bad as they come. There’s no connection between playing and evaluating basketball
McHale and Isiah Thomas were bad as well. I voiced my distain towards Jeff Bagwell on the Astros CF's last year for Jose Abreu and Montero. Said then we should have gone after Juan Soto.
So you even argue with the man Michael Jordan himself who said on April 2001 that zone defense would have changed his whole career. You are the Washington Generals of Clitchfans. Thank you for the win.....again, and again, and so on.
More so spacing. If Sengun can develop a 3pt shot it'll give Jalen more space like we had during the 10 game winning streak
It's really not an overreaction though, he'll probably get some kind of contract, but if he's not A LOT better than he's ever been, the contract won't be here and he's not going to be a starter anymore. He'll fully have earned the bust label and he'll be on his way out of the league if he doesn't turn things around. On defense, he was one of the worst on the team....the numbers improved due to the overall team defense being better, but he was still the weak link and nowhere near a positive on that end.....he wasn't even a net positive overall as a player, never has been. That's why I said what I did, the idea that he just needs to shoot a bit better is flat out delusional....the kid is a flat out terrible player all around. Given his high volume chucking, if he happens to be really hot and scoring efficiently, it makes up for him being a liability on defense, the 90% of the season he's not efficient shooting the ball, he's a liability on both ends of the court. Maybe it's that you've been paying too much attention to the delusions of his cult, but the reality of the situation is that he's barely a top 10 player in his own draft class that has no business being a starter in the NBA.
