    This made me cry after becoming a new parent. Remember, the days are long but the years are short.

    The Last Time
    From the moment you hold your baby in your arms, you will never be the same.
    You might long for the person you were before,
    when you had freedom and time and nothing in particular to worry about.
    You will know tiredness like you never knew it before
    and days will run into days that are exactly the same:
    Full of feedings and burping, nappy changes and crying,
    whining and fighting, naps or lack of naps
    It might seem like a never-ending cycle. But don’t forget…
    There is a last time for everything.
    They will fall asleep on you after a long day, and it will be the last time you ever hold your sleeping child.
    One day you will carry them on your hip then set them down and never pick them up that way again.
    You will scrub their hair in the bath at night and from that day on they will want to bathe alone.
    They will hold your hand to cross the road then never reach for it again.
    They will creep into your room at midnight for cuddles
    and it will be the last night you ever wake to this.
    One afternoon you will sing “The Wheels on the Bus” and do all the actions then never sing them that song again.
    They will kiss you goodbye at the school gate then the next day they will ask to walk to the gate alone.
    You will read a final bedtime story and wipe your last dirty face.
    They will run to you with arms raised for the very last time. The thing is, you won’t even know it’s the last time
    until there are no more times… and even then, it will take you a while to realize. So while you are living in these times, remember there are only so many of them and when they are gone, you will yearn for just one more day of them.
    For one last time.

    Update on Mama and Baby.

    Joanna is doing well. She went through the ringer truly on delivery and post delivery. She's been resting comfortably and didn't need a blood transfusion after all.

    Baby had fluid in his lungs, but that is pretty much gone. He's doing well too. Did the finger feeding this morning since he's stubborn on breastfeeding. So we're using finger feeding + donor milk + syringe. He likes to sleep a lot, which seems like it checks out. It hasn't been a full 24 hours yet.

    Seeing the love from Clutchfans makes my heart happy, makes me cry and above all I love this community. So many of you donated to our GoFundMe for Baby Louie last year and it makes me tear up thinking about how kind many of you were. Now, it is a happier time my friends. We have the rainbow baby we've always wanted and I'm learning to be a Dad beyond a handful of hours. I have a lot to learn :).

    Some more pictures too today. We finally went home from the hospital yesterday after being there since Mon morning. Went in at 7:30 Monday morning, went home 6 pm on Thursday.

    Momma is doing well. Baby is doing well (he has some jaundice, but overall good). And we are so happy. Last night was the first night at our home with baby David, and it was a sleep deprived night, lol. The first of many, I'm sure. Hopefully he sleeps better by the time my 6 weeks of paternity leave are up , so I'm not a zombie for work. I hope?

    I remember some comedian or other years ago, talking about his baby being born. He was imitating people you might see out and about, shuffling about like a zombie, head tilted to one side, eyes half-closed, saying to his audience, "These people aren't on drugs. They're new parents!"

    Congrats big daddy.

    One of the biggest trips of my entire life was going home from the hospital. Like they just hand you a person and say "alright bye now!"

    We couldn't take our last little guy home in 2023. It was absolutely a pinch me please kind of moment to take him home on Thursday. I drove SUPER slow on the way home.

    lol sammmmme that drive home was a monster even though it was like 15 minutes it felt like this whole day of travel.
