    from Lachard Binkley ...
"The pressure of being the No. 2 overall selection, Harden's legacy and a bad team seemed to slow Green's progression on the court. There was also a perception that Green didn't always work to become a better player."

seen it suggested here before too. is jg4 lazy?

Shooting 3s is but one facet of his game or any player’s game. Right. So if shooting 3 pointers is one facet of a player’s game then why do you and the horde of haters and doubters keep focusing on this one aspect and heavily criticize him?

And while we are on the 3 point topic the popular argument by many fans on here cite “League 3 pt average as a barometer or threshold for “good 3 point shooting”. Many fans on here have commented that players like Booker or Anthony Edwards as “good players” while highly critical and often hateful to our own Jalen Green for shooting below the league average in three point shooting percentage. If the league avg was .366 in 2023-2024 and this is the “standard” or “threshold” for good shooting then there’s quite a few notable players not meeting this mark:

    haliburton 36.5
    Booker 36.4
    Dejounte Murray 36.3
    Anthony Edwards 35.7
    Dame 35.4
    Jaylen Brown 35.4
    SGA 35.3
    Miles Bridges 34.7
    Paskal Siakim 34.6
    Banchero 33.9
    Jalen Green 33.2

Is 0.1 less than league avg negligible? Do you get honor roll with a 2.9 GPA? Book’s 0.2? Ah how about Edwards 0.9? Neglible? Great kid lets give him a pass. Dame 1.2? He’s done enough in his career let’s give him a pass as well. NBA Champ Jaylen? Sure. Miles? He plays defense we like him let’s pass him too! Jalen Green- terrible player. Terrible shooter. 3.9 less than league average. Not a good player.

    Subjectivity in all its glory

Guys if Jalen Green is in his prime and shooting 7 attempts from three at 33 percent he will not be a star.

    He isn't in his prime.

    We all agree?

    Case closed.

    "Youth is not an excuse"

    - Ime Udoka

Despite that, we know the excuses will continue... but can we all agree that no matter what excuses are made, the decision on keeping Jalen will have to be made before the trade deadline?

This isn't a "wait till he's 30" type situation, his contract is running out and thus far he's yet to be a starting quality player overall.

The premise was 3 pt % and league avg which is the argument presented by many on this site.

Hasn't improved at all yet his third season had by far the best advanced stats like VORP, BPM, DBPM etc.

He improved in a lot of areas. He averaged a high volume of pnr ball handling possessions for example had was well above league average in efficiency in those type of possessions for the first time in his career. Where he tanked was spot up shooting and that can be easily attributed to adjusting to new roles, coaches, teammates and being forced to expend high levels of energy on defense for the first time in his career tiring out his legs which will effect shooting.

Its the lack of measured criticism that makes you a clown and makes me depressed I'm wasting time typing this because I know I'm talking essentially to a non sentient butthole.

Them: "Where's Jalen's workout vids? All he cares about is fashion not like the rest of our guys"

Jalen: Workout vids, hosts an entire camp for his teammates as the franchise player and team leader he is.

Them: ****, best shift them goalposts again... Quick attack an arbitrary nonsensical point before we have to **** them again!

You and other Jaterade drinking president club comedian members know damn good n well that the two years under Silas to now general Udoka yr one JG4 was easily improved

He got benched multi times under new regime and ran amok under Silas

Green had a double-double stretch and runner up POM west conf., which I guess was a fluke and everybody from his class has one under their belt as well

His 3 ball will get better under the alleged guru... Sullivan

If he was able to get hot over 8 game stretch and shoot 47% or so from 3, then pretty sure with shot selection he can get to and keep a 36-39% clip for upcoming yrs

Even the biggest jater can see he improved and was held way more accountable

And he played all 82 games, that's improvement from the previous two seasons as well

Like I said pull up the 3rd yr stats for HS players straight to NBA and see where he ranks

This is the year (4) where they usually show out or be Wiggins or Poole.....my bread is on the young core (especially Bari/Sengun/JG4) to show up/out this season.....players usually show up big during contract season

    TBD

On defense, passing, running the pick n roll, rebounding, being smart, not attacking the covered basket... stuff you don't care about when you watch basketball.

This is all true, but what is also true is that Jalen Green has yet to reach a Courtney Lee level of competence at the SG position. It is okay to be bummed with JG’s year 3, where he was benched more than any player on the Houston Rockets.

The talent is still in there to be great… But the baseline shooting percentages have to improve.
