Having my wife just go through nearly 4 years of this uninterrupted, a woman who is pumping or breastfeeding being on detail seems like a bad idea, especially for the mom/child. There are jobs in the SS that would accommodate that a lot easier than field work.
No kidding, you totally missed what I was saying. So you are saying mothers are unfit for field work in security? Is that correct? It's just a question, not a judgment. And secondly, if someone in her chain of command gave her permission, then it's on that person. So it does matter. What that has to do with a work from home job - I have no idea what you are talking about. No **** the SS requires discipline.
They are not unfit. Its just not wise. In this case, she was allegedly breast feeding a baby on the job. I am not sure why we are having this discussion. If **** hits the fan, is she going to simply throw away the baby and do her job? Obviously not. Security is a high risk and dangerous job. I am not sure why you're trying to rationalize bringing an infant to a work site. It doesn't matter who gave her permission. If she was a work from home mom, then ya, do whatever with your kid if the job permits it. The vast majority of jobs out there do not allow infants in the workplace, much less a job of this caliber. Now if a woman commits to the job and is willing to leave the infant in the care of another adult, then that is her prerogative. But obviously this is not the case. I really have to question what is going on with the SS these days.
It's sounds like you are saying that if a field secret service agent has a baby, then they should have another job. I don't know the specific protocols for her job are - if she broke them, she should be disciplined. But to say she should have a work from home job just because she has a baby is just ridiculous.
what is ridiculous is the suggest that a breast feeding mother can protect a presidential candidate. she can't. but there are plenty of other jobs, in the SS, she can do, and receive the same pay. that this is somehow controversial is indicative (sorry to use a big word) of how ausgefuked our political discourse has become. Spoiler I would let Ilona Maher protect me any time
So if a woman gives her baby a bottle, she can protect the president, but if it's breast then no? You are talking nonsense.
wtaf? no one said anything like that. as I said before, I'm concerned about you, and your inability to draw basic, elementary conclusions. #BeWell.
It's law that employers have to make reasonable accommodations for nursing mothers. I support that. At least in theory. A nursing mother has to take 30ish minute breaks every 2 to 3 hours. Not impossible to do that while on detail. The agents rotate whenever someone needs coverage. Happens routinely. However, I have no idea why the agent wouldn't want to opt into something less demanding in terms of time/place given the fickle nature of mothering an infant.
Thanks for keeping this thread alive. I almost forgot that ever happened because the media stopped talking about it and also put forgetful drops in the water supply to make sure nobody would remember.
