The idea we're going to tax the rich and corporations so much we're going to be able to massively expand the government, erase the $1.5 trillion deficit and reduce the $35 trillion debt is a fantasy. Total self-delusion.
this is clearly a mis-direction by Wall Street Silver. he conveniently omitted to mention that Nixon issued Executive Order 11615 (pursuant to the Economic Stabilization Act of 1970), imposing a 90-day freeze on wages and prices in order to counter inflation. This was the first time the U.S. government had enacted wage and price controls since World War II. Govt subsidies are other forms of price control. The US Gov't has been subsidying corn productions since the 1930s
The rich will still avoid paying taxes (pay way less than they're supposed to), through loopholes. There's no such thing as free stuff, the poor and the lower middle class might get some benefits but that would be paid (the biggest portion) by the middle class. The middle class knows this and therefore avoids any type of socialism like a disease. Stay away from the government and don't expect anything from them is the way to go.
From the article being quoted (also posted earlier in this thread): “They don’t even seem terribly familiar with what’s happening to grocery prices, where the battle against inflation has, believe it not, pretty much already been won.” If Harris went this route of trying to explain that, actually, vibes that grocery bills are way too high are just mistaken, she’d no doubt be skewered for it by Republicans and the populist left. I don’t doubt that the “plan” she is offering is questionable on many levels, but I think all she’s concerned about right now is winning over enough people to win an election.
Steaks prices are really the only thing I am outraged at. Thankfully the deep freeze is still somewhat full.
Republicans lost credibility with reducing the deficit a long time ago. It's mostly a prop they use in Congress as a minority party, but these teabaggers roll over and take Trump's mushroom stamp then post selfies of it when they're up for reelection. At this point, it's another hot potato where short term election gains outweigh long term disaster.
Why can't Harris, as VP, work with Biden to effectuate her policy agenda right now? Is Biden standing in the way of going after grocery store price gougers or something? Is he standing in the way of fixing all of things Harris promises to fix? I find that somewhat amusing.
I'll put it like this. Id rather the people I vote in office have these pie in the sky promises than labeling avacado pickers as foreign invaders
