Amen is the only player with the superstar potential on this team, if he develops a shot. Cam probably has the highest ceiling offensively but his health is a question mark. As far as Jalen goes I want to be a believer but that hope is vanishing

Eh. Neither have anywhere near the on ball skills, wiggle, creativity. Amen and Jalen have similar agility and Cam is a couple notches below.

Amen arguably has a higher ceiling than Jalen. There really isn't an argument for Cam having higher ceiling. Dude is a headless chicken when he has to create against half court point of attack defenses at the moment. He also simply doesn't have the ball handling skills of Green. Like that gap is massive.

I didn't ask the question, I simply answered it.

Bottom line, he needs to replace some of those 43 poor shooting performances with 2/6 (.333) and all will be right in the world.

He cannot shoot .000 for 15% of the total games on his regular shot diet and expect to be a productive player.

    43 games between .000 - .286. That's just unacceptable.

    These are pretty arbitrary metrics.

Sure the metric is arbitrary, but it is a reasonable expectation - the bar wasn't set so high that it's impossible to clear. .333 is still below league average.

If he replaces those 12 games of .000 with .333 he's much improved and we find something else to argue about.

I don't disagree with your premise. But if the gamble is putting all the eggs in one basket, then you still need to ask the question, Which basket? We have several baskets and probably don't have enough eggs to fill all of them.

    100%!

I just hope they do not get impatient and start trading any of the core away. Let them grow together!

Glad you mentioned that. Info gathered probably isn't good enough for it's own thread.

    First.
    Rim (near) : highest FG%
(Teams top objective of denying because of high FG%)

    Mid-range : lower FG%
(higher FG% than 3-pt shot; but least efficient shot in the game because it often results in a fade away.
Less value than a 3-pointer while fewer chances for, "&-1" due to being a fade away shot.....or rule of,
"don't foul the jump shooter." Post up often ends up as an 8 ft fadeaway according to studies.....
thus the least efficient shot among least efficient shots.

3-point shot : lowest FG% , on the average due to distance and difficulty.
3 > 2 makes the shot more efficient despite the lower FG% than mid-range because of the greater value.
    ------------------------------

Drives (23/24 VanVleet & Jalen Green)
    per NBA.com/stats
    Player............drives............FG%............pts............pass%..........Ast%...........TOV%
    VanVleet:
    .......773.................41.2.............227..............62.5..............15.4..............5.4
    Jalen Green: ...775................46.3.............519..............27.2...............6.6...............8.0
    About equal drives for season.
JG4 higher FG% than the $40 million dollar man.
JG4 crushed Vv in points on drives. (DRAWING GRAVITY OF THE DEFENSE)
Vv better in pass%, Ast% and TOV% (been doing this longer than JG4.....experience)

Here is VanVleet on drives in his first 4 years
    Player...........drives/game....FG%............pts.............pass%.........Ast%.........TOV%

    Vv (rookie): .........3.7..............27.5.............0.9................41.4.............11.3............6.0
    Vv (17/18): ..........8.6.............42.2.............2.6................45.8..............12.7...........6.1
    Vv (18/19): ..........8.7.............40.1.............2.7................58.7..............14.2...........6.3

    Vv (19/20): ..........14.3............37.1............4.1................56.7...............11.6...........6.5
Lowry left (Toronto) after (20/21) season

    [ JG4 (23/24)] ....9.5 (per gm)...46.3..........6.3................27.2................6.6...........8.0
Previous 2 seasons with Silas helped on drives but didn't push for excellence.
Dead last in team 3P% in (22/23).
Added of Sheppard, AJ Griffin, Jack McVeigh improves pass% , Ast% and decreased
    TOV% w/kickouts
    --------------------------

Here is VanVleet and JG4 (23/24) [ % of FGA by distance ]
    Player........2P.........0-3........3-10........10-16........16-3P..........3P
    Vv :
    ...........42.4........9.3.........12.3...........7.3..............13.6..........57.6
    JG4 : ........54.6.......21.7.........16.6...........6.4..............9.9............45.4
    Not FG%
Houston frowns on that 10 to 3P line as a shot. Only select few get that midrange, ok.

    FG% at each distance
    Player..........2P.........0-3........3-10.........10-16........16-3P..........3P
    Vv : ............
    45.4.......50.5........38.4...........45.9............47.8...........38.7
    JG4 : ..........49.8.......69.8.......34.4...........35.3............42.4............33.2
Good thing Houston frowns on 10-3P and Green shys away from them.
    --------------

    Now let's talk Devin Booker / JG4
(if you look per-36 minutes.....first 3 years are similar)

    per-36 minutes
    Player..................pts.........Rebs.........ast.........FG%........3P%......3PA
    Booker 15/16
    ......17.9..........3.2............3.4..........42.3.........34.3.......4.9
    (rookie)
    Booker 16/17 .....
    22.8.........3.3.............3.5..........42.3.........36.3......5.3
    Booker 17/18 .....26.0..........4.7.............4.9.........43.2.........38.3.......7.4

    JG4 21/22 ...........19.5..........3.8.............3.0.........42.6.........34.3.......7.7
    (rookie)
    JG4 22/23
    ...........23.3..........3.9.............3.9.........41.6..........33.8.......7.7
    JG4 23/24 ...........22.3..........5.9.............4.0.........42.3..........33.2.......8.4
I've already educated Bobby on players shooting high quantity of 3's vs
those who only shot a small quantity. MJ, Booker, Kobe had higher
FG% than Jalen Green, but I would rather Green use those "tank years"
shooting a high quantity of 3's and get better at the 3......when it counts (this year)

Here are the Drives of Booker and JG4 each of their first 3 years
    Player..................drives......FG%.......pass%.......Ast%..........TOV%
    Booker (15/16)
    ......4.7...........44.2........29.9...........8.5...............4.5
    JG4 (21/22)............8.8...........46.8........33.7...........6.3................9.5

    Booker (16/17) .....8.6............44.1........26.3...........6.3................8.1
    JG4 (22/23)............12.9...........44.3........26.9...........5.9................5.7

    Booker (17/18) ....10.1...........43.1........24.4...........9.0...............5.3
    JG4 (23/24).............9.5............46.3........27.2...........6.6................8.0

So Booker and JG4 were very similar during drives in their first 3 years.
No doubt a GM would want to see Green perform one more year......no one wants to
be the GM that let Booker go, before he busted out.

You post about Jalen like he’s still the rookie version and never made progress. Many here have argued with you intelligently and nothing seems to stick.

Well if we judged Alpi the way you judge Jalen, I’d trade his ass tomorrow but truth is he made a leap. You just don’t respect that Jalen made a leap too because your only focus is 3 pt shooting.

Basketball will always be about the totality of contribution and our 2021 draft guys are getting their **** going. Just enjoy and stop trying to divide teammates that all depend on one another. Jebus!

if you're averaging 8 3pt attempts per game and making just 1/3rd of them and not improving efficiency for 3 years it will be scrutinized

The way you formatted your answer made me think that you thought the stat is relevant. I just wanted to make it clear that it's not. Agree with your general premise regarding JG.

Scrutinize away, but acknowledge progress. The alternative of giving up on your core speaks volumes about you, it speaks volumes about your franchise if you do this as well. The aim is championships, not appeasing fans that want to win now. Giving up is a loser's mentality.

You're the Jordan Poole of clutchfans, longshot takes that are unlikely to be meaningful. You're not good at hot takes. Good hot take folks know development is a process.

Only a handful of teams have superstars, you can count them on one hand plus 1 or 2 outliers, the rest are stars and role players.

Great article. The good news is Jalen's 11-game streak essentially forced Udoka to understand what's possible if the floor is spaced for Jalen.

Sengun does just as well at a higher pace so if you can improve their shooting a bit and surround them with better shooters, this teams offense will explode. Jalen and Sengun will be able to do damage simultaneously.

If Jabari and Tari slightly improve their 3PT shots' volume or efficiency it will make Sengun/Green's lives a lot easier. I assume if Tari improves at all as a shooter, he will be closing games and possibly starting for us over Brooks.

I would really love us to have a lead assistant specializing in offense (a former HC would be ideal). Udoka does need a bit of help there and I'm not sure his staff is strong in that area. Mazula was his lead offensive guy in Boston and there's no one on his staff with that kind of tactical offensive pedigree.

I must say though, watching him gleefully discuss all the exciting ways Sengun/Green can form a dynamic duo gives me confidence that their off-season training will be aligned with that. We're going to see a lot more pace and space for our young guys and Brooks/FVV will have to keep up. It's a shame not to play that way.

Look at how we overwhelmed teams with our athleticism in the open court towards the end of the season. Hardly anyone could keep up with us, old or young. People don't realize that on average our rotation is insanely athletic. Green will help us unlock a few more wins that way.
