Reality requires you to paint the picture of a hopeless player...he's literally been one of the most pathetic shooters in the entire league 3 years straight.

I get that you are looking to cope in any way you can, but being dishonest isn't going to get you anywhere when it's this obvious.

This always gets lost on bobbies stupud 8game narrative.

He was absolutely missing from discussion that month, but the discussion around Jalen wasnt him being "hot": it was about how everything was there.

That month was so much more than hitting 3s. B3cause he did have bad shooting nights during the stretch, but was still absolutely dominating and willing the team to dubs.

Bobbie will never admit it now, because he has his safe little april he sucked again fall back. But i saw Jalen get tired and lose motivation when we were eliminated from playoff contention.

I definitely didnt enjoy seeing that from Jalen. It was plain as day tho, and was referenced by many on the board. He needs to mature and show up every day, regardless of possible outcomes. Ime may have even said it iirc.

But at the end of the day, March wasnt about being "hot". Yes, he was hot, but his defense and playmaking and shot-creation was very good all around.

Sorry kid but outright lying isn't going to get you anywhere when it's this obvious.

It's been definitively proven multiple times that he was terrible before the 8 game hot streak and he was even worse after it.

You can argue that shooting 47% from 3 those 8 games opened up the rest of his game... but we all saw how he went back to being pathetic the second the hot shooting streak ended.

I get that you are desperate to spin things... but you just aren't very good at lying. So embrace the truth even if it makes you cry yourself to sleep for a while. You'll be better off in the end.

If making one more 3pt shot per 4 games is so easy, why hasn't he done it in 3 years? And 3pt shooting isn't his only problem. His midrange isn't exactly fantastic either. If he made instead of missed just one more shot per game, we'd be an average offensive team rather than a lower echelon offensive team. That's what separate good and bad. You seem to think it's nothing.

But, but, but, missing one more 3 per a few game is no big deal...

It's weird you have been saying that 3 & D are what win championship. But Jalen is good at neither 3 nor D, yet you've been fighting against the "jaters" all this time. o_O

Do you think Jalen Green is the main reason why we were a bad offensive team last year?

fred and Sengun are not the reason for sure. Dillon has an established career, and he performed as expected, we did not expect him to improve anyway. Jabari and Green has the most room to improve on that end. Jabari is one year younger and showing improvement. So yes, it is green who is below expectations. It doesn't matter who is most responsible, it matters what your responsibility is, what is expected from you and how you perform given that. And Green is the one that is lowest in the starting 5.

Oh yes, I am aware of his on/off numbers. For some reason I have seen them 100s of times in the past month. And I only care about how good we would be if he was scoring like an average shooting guard or he was playing better defense. Not what happens what the team does when he is not on the floor.

Why can't Sengun be partially part of the problem?

Maybe there is a hard limit to a Senhub style offense that provides great individual efficiency numbers but doesn't provide great team offensive numbers because it limits pace and doesn't take as much advantage of the athleticism the team has? How do you know his 4 pump fakes when a defender isn't within 5 ft of him negatively impact spacing when he doesn't have the ball?

No, Sengun absolutely isn't THE reason. There isn't one player that is THE reason.

Dillon on offense doesn't bring what Green brings to the table if his shot isn't falling.

If Jabari isn't hitting his spot ups, he's pretty useless on offense at the moment.

Yes a large part of why Green's team offensive efficiency on/off numbers are so good is because he has that one skill "breaking half court set perimeter defenses" that isn't replicable on the roster yet either because other players aren't developed yet to do it or they never will be capable of it.

Yes him shooting better will improve the offense. That isn't the same as claiming he is the main reason why the offense is bad.

That's an interesting question, and I know you asked it so that you could drop his positive offensive plus minus when he's on the court vs off the court.... while ignoring his negative net plus minus when on the court.

I think he was certainly one of the problems even on offense given that imo the largest problem was a lack of spacing coming from a lack of shooting... something he definitely contributed to.

I actually see a bit of Dwyane Wade's game in Green but Wade was a Top 24 player of All time newly crowned type.

Wade was only a below average shooter but what a fantastic clutch player overall.

People have Wade much higher than Booker.

Hard to attain that greatness also.

Your question was not who is partially responsible. Of course everyone is partially responsible. The question is who is doing less compared to what he is supposed to do.

    "Shooting guards shoot".

Is that the extent of your analysis?

Bad mechanics, bad shot diet, bad approach, exaggerated self awareness. You know typical young and dumb stuff. Shooting a 3 is the hardest thing to do on a professional basketball court especially when you are the focus of a defense. You can only spam PnR and post plays so much before a simple 3-2 zone takes you out of your happy place. Roles, nuance and context dependent observations seem to be lost on the geek squad and their stats.

You guys think that progress and success is all linear. The mere mention of modal verbs within an epistemic POSSIBILITY throws you people into fits. It makes you reach for stupid comps and cling to negativity because your fan ego wont allow you to even fathom a world where Jalen can lead this team to meaningful outcomes.

3&D IS the secret to the basketball universe its not even a debate anymore. The only thing that will trump that in terms of redefining winning basketball will be the advent of a 4 point shot. Within that concept you MUST have a shot creator from all 3 levels. That philosophy is to SURROUND a legitimate star level player. We are working on either developing one or acquiring one via trade. Question will be what transpires first? Jalen has made strides on that end of the court whether you choose to acknowledge it or not.

Wade is much stronger than Booker. He was elite at getting to the rim and drawing lot of fouls. He was also a better defender than Booker. If Wade played in today's NBA, he might be viewed as a shorter version of Giannis and not as great as he was back then.

I agree that Jalen had a bad shooting year and he was extremely inconsistent, but this data you shared is not very meaningful. Shooting exactly between those percentages in a single game isn't supposed to be a regular thing.

In the 2023-2024 season, most threes attempted by Jalen in a single game is 17. There are 171 different shooting performance a player who shoots at min 0 shots and at max 17 shots can possibly achieve(0/0 being the worst, 17/17 being the best). Out of those 171 different instances, only 5 of them are equivalent to a percentage between 34% and 38%: 3/8, 4/11, 5/14. 6/16, 6/17. Probability of having one of those numbers is considerably low. Therefore the frequency is irrelevant. A single game is too small of a sample size to use percentages.

EVERYONE who is involved in this discussion on a genuine level understands that consistency is the biggest area of improvement for Jalen. Im pretty sure Jalen himself understands this better than anyone.

Speaking of Dwayne Wade, next season for Green will be the same age as Wade's rookie year where he averaged 16 ppg on 4 apg and 3 turnovers per game...

Just providing perspective on how young our guys are.

Its pretty amazing to have this young stable of talent. Stone did a marvelous job of accumulating the different archetypes that contribute to winning. It falls on the players to sort out the totem. Cream rises.

Spacing is a defensive game planning issue not a 3pt fg% issue.

The perception of a player is more important here than their actual percentages when it comes to the concept of "spacing".

Does a team fear that Jalen Green can get hot? Then they won't want him to get some easy threes to go in and get in a rhythm.

Does a team fear Amen getting hot from three or Sengun? No, therefore they will harm spacing when they don't have the ball. No opposing team commentator goes "oh oh" when Sengun makes a three or two or Amen. They do when Jalen does because they understand there is a chance he might nuke the opposing team in he next few minutes because Green is streaky like that.

Pretty much that's where i start my analysis for a shooting guard. It's kind of a red flag if there is a problem there.
