I dunno. Like all other Alien trailers, it doesn't really give any indication if the film will be good or crappy. Could be either. I'll watch the bootleg (like I do with almost all movies).
Probably? But if you're not, maybe the Aliens start raising little humans to ensure they have a supply of hosts. Quite an image: alien changing a diaper, bickering with other aliens about who's turn it was.
This is obviously the reason Prometheus is the best movie in the Alien series: Engineers, white; Tentacle thing, white; xenomorph at the end; white
Four things make me think this won't be great: 1) The appeal-to-the-young'uns cast. 2) The mid-August release date (major red flag; January is another red-flag date) 3) The general lack of hype around it 4) I think it was originally gonna be released to some streaming platform.
From the D23 chatter, it sounds like: will LOOK cool horror genre again isn't the worst of the Aliens movies, possibly 3rd or 4th, deffff not close to 1 or 2 GOOD LUCK
Surprising that nothing has really leaked out in terms of big spoilers, but reviews are out. Most seem to be mostly positive, but there's definitely things people are saying that does cause concerns for someone that might have wanted the next great Alien movie to really round out a trilogy with Alien, and Aliens. I'm looking forward to seeing it as a fan of the Alien franchise, but I'll try to temper my expectations. Good news is we probably won't be bait and switched like we were with Prometheus. Sounds like you'll get what you came for, but maybe not much else that'll elevate this movie with the first two.
I've read a couple disappointing reviews now that say it's basically just constant blood and guts and that there's no buildup or character development. Probably best to keep your expectations in check.
You had to mention "Prometheus." You had to mention "Prometheus." That movie sucked big red dog d**ks. Looked fantastic but such a letdown. Travel to the other side of the universe, don't find anything the first day on the planet, call it quits. "Nothing here. Well, who brought the sandwiches?" Like the Dwarves in Peter Jackson's "Smaug" film: "Well, came all this way, can't find a keyhole, guess we'll leave. Didn't want to jack with a dragon anyway. F*** it."
Plus some of the online advertising has done mashups of past Alien movies, trying to piggy back on what used to be good. (Cry out loud.) My sci-fi movie buddy really wants to see this so I probably have no choice.
