The extreme left is complaining Harris isn't leftist enough (she hasn't said she'll stop 100% of the weapons being shipped to Israel, etc), and that they are withholding their vote for Harris unless they see major change (even though they admit Trump would 1000x worse for Gaza). Essentially, they are single issue voters at this point. Here's the thing, you can't win the general election pandering to the extreme left or extreme right (MAGA). People in the middle get turned off by the extremism. We just want normal ****ing people. That's all.
Harris made inroads into Trump's strongest base, achieving a 13-point swing. Donald Trump's Support Among White Working Class Has 'Shrunk Significantly' The latest New York Times/Siena College poll, conducted between August 5 and August 9, found that in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, more white voters without a college degree, a group that has typically favored Republicans, are backing Vice President Kamala Harris. According to the poll, Trump's lead among the demographic has been slashed by 13 points since May, when Biden was still the presumptive candidate for the Democratic Party. In a New York Times/Siena College poll conducted between April 28 and May 9, Trump was 26 points ahead of Biden among white non-college-educated voters when third-party candidates were included—with 52 percent to his opponent's 26 percent. Trump now only leads by 13 points among white non-college-educated voters, 53 percent to 40 percent when third-party candidates are included. The former president is also 13 points ahead of Harris in the demographic in a head-to-head matchup. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. "Donald Trump still leads, but look at that margin. It has shrunk significantly…nearly been sliced by half," Enten said on CNN. "Those are the types of numbers that Kamala Harris needs to put up in order to win," Enten continued. He said Biden did not want to drop out of the race because he was worried that Harris could not break in with white non-college-educated voters, "but it turns out she absolutely can."
Lol @ complaining about interest rates while simultaneously complaining about inflation. Do you even Federal Reserve bro?
Quick chime-in. I’ve been fortunate that my earnings have outpaced inflation. Since I also have assets, inflation actually helps increase their value (dampening its impact). Those who are hit hardest are probably lower-wage workers with little to no assets, where their earnings haven't kept pace. Insurance costs have skyrocketed, and that's a bigger issue than core inflation, which has now settled into a typical range. Home insurance rates are driven up by more severe storms (thanks to a hotter planet). For car insurance, it's inflated car values, higher repair costs, labor shortages, and the rising costs of high-end models. Health insurance continues its usual pattern from the past two decades. The solution isn’t massive immigration deportations or a blanket 10% tariff on all imports from every region. Those would be inflationary.
Lol people who have no idea about how the economy works are the same ones pushing for mass deportation and blanket 10%/60% tariffs First it was "Muh jerbs!" and now it's "Muh eggs!" Under Trump, these low information, low skilled workers will go work on farms picking strawberries for minimum wage, while paying twice as much for everything at Walmart.
We import much of our food. Food costs are rising because all of the people in central and south america who grow american food has migrated to the US. If you want to lower food costs, send the workers back.
It's fantastic that you mention that. Harris did precisely this (meeting with Leaders in the Northern Triangle to get to the root of the problems causing the migration) when she was VP, and turning it into investment opportunities for private American businesses. She was not the "border czar" (there's no such thing haha). That's a Fox News/right wing talking point. https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing...o-deepen-investment-in-the-northern-triangle/
Kamala Harris will conduct her first major interview as Dem nominee with the New York Post https://nypost.com/2024/08/13/opini...or-interview-as-dem-nominee-with-the-ny-post/
the only time Harris has had to perform unscripted was during the 2020 primary debates, and she got creamed
I have one as well. A musician. He didn't care to vote when Biden was the guy. Now it's a whole different story
yip, and there was a bi-partisan introduced by GOP Senator Lankford of Okla , but Mike Johnson Tanked the Bipartisan Border Deal at Trump’s Command
No one wants to do the most humane solution to illegal immigration: prison sentences for business owners who exploit migrant labor. That is all. Then the migrants have to compete with the same legal minimum wage rates that legal residents and citizens compete with. And that will eventually sway migrants to not want to come to the USA because they can no longer compete in the labor market. If you don't think that is the ultimate solution then you think that there is something else wrong with migrants like them being inherently more predisposed to violent crime when the data doesn't bare it out or them "changing culture". So basically if you don't think that is the ultimate solution to migrants and the harm to the labor market through exploitation of desperate situations you probably have bigoted reasons for your concentration on caring about illegal migrants "invading".
Fun facts: This is the guy Trump called by the wrong name, he called him "little Pimp". I can see why he likes Trump - he has a tax lien on his home and had to file bankruptcy. This guy said he was going to vote for Trump in 2020 too - then never registered to vote.
You don't have to have high interest rates in order to tame inflation. There is many different ways. Costs of American goods have skyrocketed and they won't come back down. You have to attack it via external factors which some posters have accurately mentioned.
