Some tantalizing possibilities. Who will Team USA and the Astros trot out in the service of winning dat gold. So let's undertake the exercise early and let your bold predictions go where no Astros thread has gone before.

Hard to predict 4 years down the road but......
If Tucker is still here, I would think him.
Bregman will be too old, lots of our stars will be playing for other teams.
Maybe Yordan will become an American citizen.

Will the MLB suspend its season for two weeks in the summer of 2028? Seems unlikely. Money needs to be made; bills need to be paid.

Probably do this with minor league players. Could you imagine a star pitcher blowing his arm out in this?

Arrighetti, Brown, Hader, Tucker are the only Astros with any legit slight chance to be on a team USA Dream team in 4 years. I’d suspect none would make the cut.

One idea I had is to not have the All-Star weekend that year and instead all the All-Stars play the Olympics. They could also start the season a week earlier (one less week of spring training games) to allow them to break for 2 weeks for the Games. Not sure the roster rules for the Olympics but if they could have 50 guys on the roster that would really reduce the pitcher injury risk.

3-4 years is a long time. I could see Hunter Brown being one of the best pitchers in the league and Josh Hader still being an elite RP. Hard to see any American position players on Houston’s roster being among the 20 best players in the league. Yordan will be on the Cuban team and Altuve will play for Venezuela.

I like that idea, start a week early and have a 2 week break for the olympics. Let the players compete in the Olympics for their country. Don't think Yordan will be going to play for Cuba, he defected, so higher chance he'll play for America (which would be great).

Most likely tho, it'll be minor leaguers playing.

Hopefully none. We had to live through Altuve getting hurt in the WBC last time.

Tucker would probably be on the that team. Only Judge is clearly above Tucker (if he was healthy right now) among US OFers. Judge will be 36 while Tucker will be 31.

I would imagine they use amateur/minor leaguers, like they have done in the past.

The World Baseball Classic is the tournament MLB players participate in. It takes place during Spring Training and just replaces Spring Training games with tournament games. Unlikely MLB shuffles their schedule for the Olympics and unlikely all parties want added workload for the players. LA gets to choose to add a few games being the host city and this was one of them along with flag football. It's one and done for baseball being back in the games.

I wonder if the Dodgers will have to go on a 2 and half week road trip.

All of the Americans on the Futures Game rosters would easily win gold if no big leaguers played for other countries.

Only have Astros players on the team if Mike Fiers is pitching for Mexico ;)
