I honestly don't believe that. He's too lazy and has too many idiots in his inner circle. Even if he wins, a lot of those people will stay in prison. He'll pardon a few here and there, especially from the riot of January 2021, but a few election-related idiots? Meh.
It won't be out of a place of loyalty if he does it. He will do it because it will encourage others to feel safe to do these violations and attacks with impunity. It's the signal to his base that they can commit crimes for him and they'll be fine.
I think this is a state conviction, so Trump wouldn't be able to pardon. Maybe the governor should commute her sentence. I don't see a need to have an old lady rot in prison.
You are correct. I forgot that this is a state level conviction. I don't think our current prison system is meant for reform so ya I don't see any good use in her rotting in prison for a non violent offense but this is where we have to ask what should be the consequences of violating election integrity ethics?
I do. The message must be sent out to other old ladies. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Prison is meant to punish and to send a message to others that crime does not pay. I will eagerly admit that the former works way better than the latter.
Sorry I mistyped. I meant "isn't meant for reform". So we agree with the intention of our criminal justice system.
Lol I just realized I had "I don't think" at the beginning lol. Man I'm forgetting what I typed 30 seconds ago
that old lady definitely deserves to rot in prison…let’s please stop the tomfoolery it’s not like she was going over the speed limit or stole a shirt from Walmart she was guilty on like 8 counts stop handling these insurrectionists with kid gloves Isn’t she part of the party that preaches law and order and personal responsibility?
She doesn't even look like she's ******** bricks over prison time and more like she's walking up to claim her BINGO prize.
I don't want to see any elderly woman rotting in jail, but these are serious crimes in a time where there are many others that also bought into the conspiracy and may be tempted to do the same. This verdict should hopefully give them pause about doing something unscrupulous if they're unhappy with election results. PS. She's embroiled in a separate civil lawsuit that demonstrates a pattern of deceit. On the very day her power of attorney over her then-husband was revoked, she allegedly filed a quit claim deed, transferring a $395,000 home solely into her name. This move, occurring before their divorce was finalized, has led her ex-husband's daughter and sister to sue her for what they claim was a deliberate attempt to defraud the family estate.
Beats me. I just fill in the form online. Didn't ask me for any ID. I think if you have to show ID when you vote - maybe there isn't a point to asking for it in registration?
Probably. And tbh maybe it autofilled my DL# on my browser. I don't think you need a DL to register to vote. I think you need at least a social though. I didn't have to pull anything out of my wallet. But definitely they check ID when you vote - which is silly. If you went into a polling place and claimed to be someone and knew their address, then voted for them and then what? You committed a federal crime for one lousey vote? You going to go back in there and do it again and risk them recognizing you? In NYC you have to show id to register, but not to vote. They look up your address and pull your sticker so they know you voted. I don't think anyone commits a federal crime to tip the scales by one vote.
