Most of the hatred comes from niche outlets like message boards that I doubt Green encounters. The general NBA media and rockets access journalists outside of Roosh are pretty reasonable. Ironically the most vitriolic hate of the dude is in the GARM. Reddit is kinder to Green than the GARM.

Ya for real. Jalen Brown was averaging more turnovers than assists at the same age Jalen was averaging 22 ppg at age 20. Some of these guys popped off earlier than Jalen though like Haliburton who made the star leap at year 3.

Haliburton averaged 17.5ppg in his third season, that's not a star leap.He got his first all-star selection in his fourth season when he fully broke out. If we're taking Haliburton's later-half of his third season as a leap, then allow me to show you a month of all-NBA quality play from our young future superstar :D;)

All of the talk about him being a "late bloomer" as an excuse for his 3 years of failure is all well and good... but it doesn't change the fact that he will have to become a halfway decent player his 4th season or is over for him in Houston.

He's the 7th youngest player on the roster... none of the other younger players need that excuse.

He averaged 20 year n 60% ts while averaging ELEVEN assists per game on 2.5 turnovers. That's like peak CP3 effectiveness. He absolutely had a significantly better third season than Jalen by a wide margin.

He did spend 2 years in college though so that is a benefit. But ya Hali just had a far more impactful and efficient first three seasons than Jalen by quite a bit. It'll be hard for Green to catch up to his trajectory.

Hence why I singled him out on this list because he is more similar to guys like Ja or Ant who popped off very early into their careers.

Seems like it's pretty much the entire core 7. I wonder any of the vets are showing up?

I don't disagree that he has "made improvements" .... the problem is that those improvements haven't necessarily been relevant to his role as a scorer.
The defense went from borderline unplayable to respectable.
    Rebounding better.
He's pretty good as the ball handler in the pick and roll - he couldn't execute that as a rookie - it was laughable.

The problem is shooting. His role on this team is to score - if you can't put the ball thru the hole, it's a failure.

The other thing, his "scoring 20" as an X year old - he has been given extended minutes and a green light and the most shot attempts on the team all three seasons - That's why these scoring by age stats ring hollow to me - given the circumstances, he should be scoring at a high rate, really should be scoring more.

Bottom line, he's been given an opportunity that few players have had in the history of the league and that's why his scoring volume is what it is.

His TS% ranked #173 in the league in 23/24.
    2023-24 NBA Player Stats: Advanced | Basketball-Reference.com
    His eFG% ranked #404.
2023-24 NBA Player Stats: Adjusted Shooting | Basketball-Reference.com

These numbers are totally unacceptable for a "rotation player" much less the "first option" getting the most shot attempts per game and these are the stats that are most relevant to his role. And that is where we have seen absolutely NO improvement year over year.
Obviously, the shortest route for the Rockets to become contenders is for Green to play like he did in that short stretch last season ... I think we all, even his haters, "hope" he plays that well, just that some of us don't believe he will.

I think the issue also is that the improvement from first to third season would be only slightly disappointing if the same level of improvement occurred between the first and second season... with the hopes being that there is substantial improvement the 3rd season.

However, that small level of improvement after 3 years is very discouraging..... especially when all of the talk before his rookie season was about how legendary his work ethic was.

We expected a decent level of performance from him that we've just never gotten over the course of a season and the time to make a decision on him is rapidly approaching.

I definitely believe there are posters here who fear Green popping off because he time investment they put in to craping on him for multiple years is too much time investment to the average ego to not get butthurt if they are wrong.

Again, the same thing can be said for guys like Paolo and Booker in their first few seasons.

Him getting better at everything else besides his ts% tells me that this a thermodynamics problem of finite energy. He probably hasn't conditioned himself to exert respectable effort on defense AND have high usage on offense at the same time with 30+ minutes per game in the NBA.

He has arguably his worst year scoring wise yet had by far his best advanced metrics like VORP, RAPTOr etc in his career.

The concept of bad teams drafting talented 19 year olds in the lottery on a depleted tanking roster where they are given the opportunity to have high usage on shitty teams has been existing for multiple decades now.

Of course lets not even think of bothering to acknowledge how this shows leadership and maturity. This should be getting more praise and discussion. but you cant praise Satan you know what i mean?

case in point. Lets joke/mock it instead of give credit where credit is due.

    Your toxicity isn't comedy.

If you want to be funny you gotta execute better or else it's just cringe.
