Give Trump a few more bad polls and he may strap on a mustache and try the same thing.

    what does “steelman” mean?

I already said I don’t care what others do. That goes for how parents want to raise their kids. I don’t care. But I still think it’s inappropriate to have drag performers reading to children in public libraries.

Steelman is the opposite of strawman in that you provide the best possible argument from the perspective of someone you disagree with in a discussion.

People dress up in drag and read. That happens. The stuff about twerking or doing strip routines is the sensationalist claims. Maybe there is an example of it happening once and that one instance produced all the media content required to make a claim that it happens all the time.

But pretty much all these "drag show story time hour" events have no strip like performances. Its just dressing in drag and reading books.

Biden wasn’t Trump and he was down by 5+ in polls. Harris represents the future which is firing up the base and attracting the undecideds.

It happened… he was in Congress when he went there… this is the danger of people purposely tweeting stuff out of context.

I don't know if Trump is actually capable of pivoting at this point, until they have to I wouldn't give any hard plans ether.

Why does anyone try to engage with dip$hitters in rational discussion?

The simple fact that they can justify supporting dip$hit indicates a lack of morals and/or critical thinking.

ok. so youre asking me to "steelman" a parent who takes their kids to a drag show? why? i didnt say anything about parents taking their kids to drag shows. but since youre so curious about my opinion on it i dont think the government should be involved and i dont think its anyones business but the parent.

what gives you the impression that i would think differently?

now that being said, i personally think that it is inappropriate to take children to drag shows. i dont think they are meant for children. the whole point is the taboo nature of it...the subversiveness...the implicit sexuality. i would question the judgement of a parent who took their kid to a drag show but i would not "steelman" them. i dont care.

i dont know if this is directed to me, but i never said that they were twerking or doing strip routines at the library.

ive never said it was anything else...and i still think its inappropriate.

What do you mean by drag shows?

Are you referring to men dressed in drag reading to kids in libraries? Because when you say "drag shows" it implies the sexualized shows rather than just a person in drag rear ng to kids in a library setting.

Again, why do you think a parent won't of think it's a positive experience for their child to be exposed to a man in drag reading a book?

Hence why I'm asking you to steelman. Do you think it's just a irrational tick in these parents to be compelled to do this or libraries to have these type of programs?

I'm sincerely trying to ask you if you can even attempt to provide the argument a parent would give to defend this. I'm not asking you to agree with it.

are you really unaware that this has been happening all over the country for years? there are multiple organizations that put these events together. dont you live in austin? its happened a bunch here...my friend took her 10 year old kid to one a couple years ago.

youre the one who brought up taking children to "drag shows". i was trying to respond to your question about "steelmaning" a parent about taking them to a drag show. did you mean something else?

were you? i was responding to your question about me steelmaning a parent who took their kid to a "drag show". you even put it in quotes like that for some reason.

lol...i dont know and i dont care. youre being ridiculous right now.

can you reword this question? i really dont understand what youre asking here or why youre asking. this is so stupid.

you seem very interested in my opinion on drag performers reading to kids...i found some previous posts i made on the subject!

I don't know man. You said it's inappropriate. I'm trying to figure out why you think that and whether you can find out why parents who do it think it's good.

You are the one who made a claim about it one way or the other. I'm just asking for elaboration. It's one of those things where if you don't want to elaborate you just don't reply.

It feels like you want to be confrontational about this. I'm just curious why you think what you think because they made a claim. If you feel uncomfortable explaining your position just don't reply. I'm not going to do something like double reply to your old comment repeating the same question. Id just forget I even asked you. That's how message boards work. You don't have to be confrontational if you don't want to answer.

so because i offered my OPINION on a basketball message board about drag performers reading to kids that means im supposed to ask my friend why they took their kid to one? why would i want to "find out why parents who do think its good". seems like youre very curious about this...personally, as ive said multiple times now, i dont care.

i said i thought drag performers dressing up and reading to kids at libraries is inappropriate and then you brought up parents taking kids to drag shows and are now asking me to explain why parents think thats a good thing to do. im not sure why or what the point is. what are you trying to do right now, exactly and what does it have to do with anything i have said?

what claiim did i make again? youre asking me to make arguments about things i never even brought up and now asking me to pretend im a parent taking my kid to a drag show and im supposed to explain why i think its good...this is so weird!

youre asking me to argue about things i never even said. i never mentioned taking kids to drag shows...you did.

lol...it feels like youre being confrontational (and now passive aggressive) about this. youre the one who started up with me. im just responding to your posts. how does that make me confrontational?

it feels like youre (once again) just arguing for the sake of arguing. this is so stupid. i posted a meme making fun of JD vance for dressing in drag and then pointed out that even though i think drag is dumb, i dont obsess over it like right wingers, many of whom like to dress in drag themselves. that was my only point...you took one comment i made in that post regarding my OPINION that i THINK its inappropriate for drag performers to read to kids in libraries. and now you are asking me to pretend im a parent who takes their kid to a drag show and im supposed to explain why i think its good? whats the point of that? so weird!

this thread is about tim walz being selected as VP and look at us now! this has to be the stupidest side-track of a thread in the history of the D&D.

lol. i can reply to whomever i want. if youre replying to my posts i have a right to reply back. i dont feel uncomfortable explaining anything. i have no idea why you want me to do whatever it is you are wanting me to do or what the point is. i have no idea what youre arguing with me about or what the point is. again, this is so stupid and comical. not the first time with you though and im happy to oblige your silliness.
