“Boca” is the one with the soccer coach. If you ever watch it again I think you’ll ll agree. Not the best episode.
It’s kinda funny . Go on YouTube and look up Soprano scenes relating to Phil and read the comments. That’s really all I can say. Actually, it’s incredibly funny. and yes it’s a great scene in the movie. Goodfellas is a perfect film.
Does Ferguson still have options? I'd much rather see Whitley up there. Hasn't given up an er in 14 outings. He deserves another shot.
Even if not, if they really wanted Whitley up here they could always option Dubin. Also while Ferguson is nothing special, against a lefty-heavy lineup like Boston, he was able to serve a specific role (as was King). The bullpen is starting to look fairly formidable. Ort has definitely entered the “high leverage” conversation, albeit 6th or 7th inning. Will also give Espada more flexibility in how to deploy the big 3. I prefer more of what he did in the Boston series (alternating Pressly/Hader for a 9th inning role), but obviously it’s dependent on how the starting pitching and other bullpen guys are doing. Current pecking order: Dubin Ferguson King Ort Scott Abreu Pressly Hader The way bullpens are being held together by duct tape around the league, the Astros actually have a pretty strong/stable one… and can only get stronger with possible additions of Murphy or whoever else decides to come off the IL over the next 2 weeks.
He's got a little over 5 years of service time, and it looks like 2018 was when he was added to the Dodgers 40-man, so I'm guessing not? I'm also not very up to date on these rules.
Players can be optioned up to 3 times ( multiple options within 1 year count as 1) until a player has 5 years of service time. Before 2024 King, Hernandez, Contreras, and Murfee have 3 Abreu, Ort, Dubin, Whitley, Martinez, Mushinski, Ortega, and Sousa have 1 Ferguson, Hader, Pressly, Scott, Graveman, and Montero have 0
Why I was asking. Also, he's so uninteresting to me, I didn't bother looking up how long he's even been in the majors.
I had no idea who he was until we traded for him. I wish he and the team would say "yes" and send him to Florida for a week or 2.
Ferguson had been a quality reliever prior to this season. If the Astros had picked him up in the offseason everybody would have been thrilled about it. In that respect I see why Dana Brown thought he was worth a shot. However he has sucked this season because his 4 seam velocity is down and hitters are teeing off on it. Unless they have some way to get that velo back up he's probably gonna continue sucking.
In his extremely small sample with Houston, Ferguson has a 25% k rate against a 5% walk rate. He has a 2.65 xfip. He’s had some bad luck on batted balls. It looks like he’s made a repertoire change. With the Yankees he was throwing cutter, 4 seam, slurve. His last outing with Houston he ditched the slurve and threw a sinker. He is also throwing more cutters and less four seams. So who knows how he’ll look the rest of the season but there’s a chance they “fixed” him.
