I can't believe none of you pervs have posted pics or anything about the cute Paraguayan swimmer who got kicked out of the Olympic Village for "inappropriate behavior"...I'm curious just how inappropriate you have to be to get kicked out, given the reputation of the OV.

wasn't the "inappropriate behavior" over announcing her retirement and grabbing media attention from her home media? i think the "inappropriate behavior" you're after is the twerking fulltime onlyfans worker who happened to win gold for canada.

This is such BS. The athlete loses a medal because everyone except the athlete messed up. The judges messed up by not giving her the correct difficulty score. And then the US coaches appealed 4 seconds after the one minute time limit. Please tell me how this is the athletes fault. Chiles legitimately scored higher than the two Romanian gymnasts. But because other people f'd up, she doesn't get a medal.

Nothing particularly salacious, I was curious myself.

Apparently she more interested in her social media profile and had beef with the higher ups. She openly would have preferred to represent the US where she already lives and goes to college (even though she wasn't remotely good enough and only made the olympics because Paraguay got a diversity rep). She went, got bounced immediately, retired, focused on her real passion social media and ceased to give a single f**k about Paraguay or the Olympics and they weren't happy about it.

She actually medaled, so you get to twerk without getting a finger wag.

I think the US was having handoff problems in the 80s, too. I can't remember how involved or responsible Carl was, though.

I want to see Levrone lower Marita Koch on the record books (please don't be doping, Sydney... lol). Levrone already has world class speed in the 400m flat even though she doesn't specialize in it. I think she ran the fastest 400m flat last year (or close to it), and ran one of the fastest 400's this year. If she concentrated on it, she would definitely be threatening that. A race pitting Levrone against Paulino would be must-watch tv. If Levrone focused on the 400m flat, I think she could take her down, but without focusing, I don't know, but it would be a hell of a race.

From what I've been able to find on the splits :

    Shamier Little : 49.48
    Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone : 47.71
    Gabby Thomas : 49.30
Alexis Holmes : 48.78 (I think she beat her PR by 1 second)

Props to Gabby Thomas who was kind of unsung in these events for getting 3 golds (I think) in the 200m, 4x400, and the 4x100.

Relay or not, has anyone else won gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 400m in the SAME Olympics?

Flo Jo sorta did, with 4 medals in one Olympics, but golds were the 100, 4x100, and the 200 (she set world records in 100 and 200). But her medal in the 4x400 was a silver.

Just as an aside, from what I recall there was some long distance runner that won something like 5-7 in the same Olympics, and then there's Michael Phelps who won about 25 of them in one Olympics. Honestly don't remember the total. lol. Both were insane.

Liked the closing ceremony myself. I was entertained with the rings and music.

The Tom Cruise stunt could have been a little more amped up. Would have preferred an accidental fall from the top of the stadium with a complete free dive into a trampoline of fire. Then a motorcyle jump out of the stadium like evil Knievel would have lit the stadium on fire. But it was ok. A little B-movie, as opposed to Oscar worthy, but they tried to add star power and that was a noteworthy attempt.
